About this property

Entire place

At Pargys is a charming, mid-1800s cottage, enjoying an enviable position in the peaceful hamlet of

Pargys is a wonderful old Manx cottage, tastefully renovated and modernised, whilst maintaining a traditional cosy feel, making it a truly memorable holiday home. Whether it’s a summer visit to enjoy all that goes on the Isle of Man or a cosy winter break or staycation, Pargys is a welcoming and comfortable retreat at any time of the year.

Pargys sleeps up to five people in three bedrooms. On the first floor there is a double bedroom, a second bedroom containing two adult sized comfortable single beds, and on the ground floor a single bedroom.

There is a modern fitted kitchen including a washing machine, fridge and freezer.

The dining room has a dining table to seat up to six people, also tucked away in this room are a dishwasher and tumble dryer.

The cosy sitting room has a magnificent Manx "Chiollagh" stone fireplace with wood burning stove and comfortable seating.

You can sit and relax outside in the very pretty south facing cottage garden ( a real sun trap in the summer) at the end of the day, enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple or enjoying a barbecue.

An excellent base for enjoying the beauty and all that goes on in the Isle of Man or for just relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere in the peaceful hamlet of Fistard.
The bus service in this area of the island is very frequent, including services to the Airport and Ferry port. The nearest stop is just five minutes away from Pargys. The Isle of Man Steam Railway which runs from Port Erin to Douglas has a halt at Port St Mary.
Also at Port St Mary you will find the sailing club and boats offering fishing excursions and trips to the Calf of Man, and trips for scuba diving, and basking shark/dolphin/minke whale spotting.
Port Saint Mary Golf course is minutes on foot from the cottage, and Port Erin Golf course is just a few minutes by car.
The Rad Ny Follan coastal path is just a five minute walk from the cottage.

Pretty Manx cottage

Lovely property. Nicely furnished. Log stove welcome in winter. Wonderful location for walks and near to amenities including the picturesque Port St Mary.

Family holiday

Lovely location but wasn't aware was up a hill. Plenty of room with just about everything we needed (except a corkscrew!). We arrived in a very wet and windy afternoon so were pleased to see that a few basics were provided (bread, milk, butter and cheese and a basket of tea, coffee and sugar). There was also cleaning supplies including tea towels and washing up liquid. Our weather was fairly good so it was nice to be able to sit in the garden. Was a great base for exploring the island. Not a lot in Port St Mary but just a stone's throw from Port Erin and Castletown. So much to see but not enough time! We had a lovely time and would return here.

Perfect Base

We loved our stay in Port St Mary. The property was everything we needed and very homely! We had great weather, so sitting outside with our morning coffee and breakfast was beautiful! We stayed for a family reunion with other family around the island so definitely needed a car. The coastal walk from Port St Mary to Port Erin was gorgeous and would highly recommend. All in all a great stay with a lovely home to stay in

Lovely property

Had a lovely stay at this property. Very clean and tidy, comfortable beds and had everything we needed. Bath was also much larger than it appears in the pictures whoch was a bonus. There is no parking outside the property but had no issue with finding on street parking nearby. Would advise anyone coming by car to come from Park Road end as the other end of the road is very narrow with tight bends. Would happily stay again if we return.

Visiting family on IOM

Visited Isle of Man with daughter and family to see other daughter who lives here Weather was great and went sea fishing, booked a beach hut in Port Erin and went to wildlife park The cottage was great if not a bit of a walk to Port St Mary which doesn’t really have much going on , however Port Erin only a short drive which is great Cottage as a whole was great but back garden path was a bit rickety with large drops and sharp edges . We do appreciate property recommended children over 10 but a bit of work on the garden would enhance things Cottage very well appointed but lounge a bit dingy All In all a great week and when ferry cancelled on last day the company allowed us to stay till 11:30 and offered to try and find accommodation for another night if available PS don’t park outside property as road is narrow and twice we were advised to move y neighbours
Stayed 7 nights in Aug 2023

A great base for the Isle

An ideal base in the Port of St Mary. Pargys is ideal for a family and has great size rooms. It also has a lovely garden area. Parking can be an issue as it is on stret parking that can be busy. If you had 2 cars you would really struggle. Due to the age of the property, it is damp and smelt very musty... need to leave windows open. Even though it was July we needed the heating on in the evening, as it was cold inside. The beds are very comfy, and the linen was spotless, the house was clean inside and basics provided like toilet roll and hand soap/washing liquid (had been very watered down though) There are many island escapes properties in the area that I would look at next time rather than here due to the condition of the house. If the damp problem was addressed and minor improvements made, then I would happily stay again.

Lovely cottage, shame it's up a huge hill!

Very happy with the cottage itself: Well equipped, lovely garden, quiet and comfortable. The description prior to booking has some glaring omissions/inaccuracies! The 'pin' dropped on the map to show location shows it before the nearby golf course, when it is after. This made it difficult for us to locate on the first night. The description states 5 minutes from the nearest bus stop - it doesn't say BY CAR! And up a VERY steep hill! Hauling our cases the first night we were almost ready to give up when we were rescued by some friendly locals who helped us get there. In fact, even without cases I think the quickest we made it up the hill was about 17 minutes. I am mobility challenged and this climb was so difficult we had to plan our holiday around only doing it once a day. This clearly had an impact on our itinerary. Also the description states it is 200m from the beach. If this is meant to be Perwick Bay that is at the bottom of a cliff. The nearest accessible swimming beach is Chapel Beach in Port St Mary - another half mile or so on from the steep walk to the nearest bus stop, which itself is over half a mile. The description needs to be amended to accurately reflect the location challenges. With a car however, this would be a lovely place to stay. On foot, and with any mobility issues, definitely not!

A little gem!

Stayed here with our grown up children, plenty of space for all and everything we needed in the house. Very comfortable in a peaceful location and a short walk to Perwick Beach, which is stunning. Would definitely recommend to others.

stay at prays

The cottage is lovely but smells damp and the "double bed" was much too narrow for two adults to sleep on. Otherwise the place is lovely and had everything you need

Lovely place, but with some problems that can be easily solved

A work in progress, lovely house, but some problems that can be easily solved. Dried blood on the duvet (that must have been noticed by whoever changed the beds)! Single sheet on double bed and a double bed far too big for the room. Also tiny tiny pots and pans, it’s self catering for 5, so more than toy cooking equipment is needed. Don’t get the food package on arrival, we had the dairy free one, but it was a strange mix of inedible things from the supermarket, we didn’t use any of it! These things can be fixed easily, the main ingredients are there, nice house, wonderful location and we would certainly come again.

Everything we needed

The house had enough space for us and everything we needed for our stay. The beds are super comfortable and the linen felt clean and fresh. The garden felt secluded and Fistard is very quiet and peaceful. As with lots of Manx buildings, Pargys is pretty damp, and we had to crank up the central heating on the first night (in July) to chase the cold out. Two of the bedrooms are upstairs but there is a small back bedroom off the living room (built into the hill). Luckily we didn’t need to use it because it absolutely stank of fox. This is a bit strange as there are no foxes on the Isle of Man, and there wasn’t much else in the room other than the bed.
