Some information on the Laguna Madre: The Laguna Madre is a long, shallow, hypersaline lagoon along the western coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It is one of seven major estuaries along the Gulf Coast of Texas. The roughly 20-mile (32 km) long Saltillo Flats land bridge divides it into Upper and Lower lagoons joined by the Intracoastal Waterway, which has been dredged through the lagoon. Cumulatively, Laguna Madre is approximately 130 miles (209 km) long, the length of Padre Island in the US.
Guests can access the entire home, driveway, and community areas including the basketball court, picnic area, playground, pool, hot tub, and gazebo. In addition, guests can borrow our kayaks for an additional fee. Guests are free to fish (with a valid Texas fishing license) from our back yard (in high tide), the gazebo, or you can literally walk over two football fields (and then some) out into the lagoon.
If you want to spend a day or evening in the big city, you are about 30 minutes from Brownsville and the border with Mexico.
We will be available virtually (via phone, text) to you for questions or issues that may arise.
