The Family Barn is situated near Glasgow in Renfrewshire at the heart of the stunning Finlaystone Estate, which overlooks the Clyde estuary. The Barn is designed to suit many types of guest from a couple, two couples or a family.
The Family Barn is on the ground floor of a recently constructed oak framed building and there are exposed oak posts and beams which add to its charm. It has one fully enclosed bedroom but is otherwise open plan and a flexible space. Being on the ground floor it is easily accessible and we have ensured it is wheelchair friendly.
It has a large bathroom and walk in shower, an enclosed bedroom with kingsized bed, a separate sleeping area with a double or single bed which can be curtained off from the main room for privacy. A sofa bed can also be made up providing flexible space for up to 6 people. The beds are extremely comfortable too! The fully fitted kitchen is very well equipped and has a microwave oven, nespresso coffee machine and a washing machine and dryer. A wide screen TV is provided and there is free WiFi. The toilet and shower are disabled friendly with easy access.
Outdoors there is access to extensive gardens and woodlands. Ideal for a couple who want lots of space as well as for a family or group of friends.
There are 10 acres of formal gardens and extensive woodlands to explore and you can also use the woodland BBQ. The estate, which is a popular local attraction, also has a small shop, a tea room and a ranger service and is home to the Clan MacMillan Centre. There are lots of local places of interest to visit as well as Glasgow and Loch Lomond, all within easy driving distance.
Within an hour's drive of Finlaystone are many famous golf courses such as Royal Troon, Loch Lomond, Prestwick and Gleneagles and the nearest is just 2 miles away. A wonderful day trip is to take a local ferry to islands such as Bute and the Cumbraes. The world class Ingliston equestrian centre is close by and there are some great walks in the area - you can choose from a gentle stroll to a more energetic climb up the majestic Ben Lomond. Renfrewshire has a varied landscape with wide open moorland covered in heather, rolling green fields, white painted villages and some stunning views.
Glasgow is renowned as a wonderful place to shop but even closer to Finlaystone is Braehead, a shopping centre with a retail park consisting of over 100 stores. Braehead also boasts Xscape for leading-edge fun attractions: you can ski and snowboard on real snow all year, play golf, football and bowling, climb walls and walk in the air in any kind of weather. You can take the train to Glasgow and enjoy the world-class art galleries and museums.
