In winter, 350 kilometres of fantastic pistes in the family-friendly Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza and Zuoz ski area invite you to have real skiing and snowboarding fun. Cross-country skiers will find over 220 km of prepared trails in the Upper Engadin and the side valleys. The winter hiking and cross-country skiing trails on the frozen lakes of the Upper Engadin sparkle with light, sun and space in the heart of an inspiring mountain world. Those who wish to enjoy the silence and beauty of the snow-covered forests can set off to explore the 150 km of winter hiking trails in the side valleys such as Val Roseg, Val Fex or Val Bever; those who prefer to have an overview can enjoy breathtaking views on the panoramic trails high above the lakes on Muottas Muragl.
Families can enjoy the Engadin sun on a carriage ride through Val Roseg or Val Fex, or toboggan down into the valley on the 4.2 km long, curvy Muottas Muragl run.
Description of the place:
Pontresina - The true delight of the Alps
Old Engadin houses and elegant hotels from the Belle Epoque characterise this sunny and wind-sheltered high mountain resort. Pontresina is set against the breathtaking backdrop of majestic peaks, above all the Piz Bernina, the highest peak in the eastern Alps, and is an ideal starting point for mountaineers, hikers and climbers both in summer and winter. But culture lovers, romantics and enthusiasts will also find real gems in and around Pontresina, such as a horse-drawn carriage ride through the contrasts of Val Roseg or southwards on the Bernina Express. In winter, countless inspiring cross-country ski runs and picturesque winter hiking trails through the magical landscape satisfy the senses. The Diavolezza ski area, particularly popular with free-ride enthusiasts, is close by. In summer, explorers will encounter the largest colony of ibex in Switzerland. In addition, the new "Bernina-Glaciers" environment allows visitors to experience the fascination of the glaciers in the Bernina region up close.
Hiking destinations:
What mountains. What lakes. What light. On 580 kilometres of hiking trails through the mountains, or by mountain bike on 400 kilometres of pleasant trails: the Upper Engadin offers a first-class network of hiking and mountain bike trails in the heart of the authentic mountain world and the breathtaking Engadin lake landscape. The four flow trails on the Corviglia ensure the right flow. The Upper Engadin lakes also lend themselves particularly well to sports enthusiasts: kiting, sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddling - the possibilities are just endless. The space and inspiration of the upper valley can be fully appreciated on the two 18-hole golf courses in Samedan and Zuoz. And alongside the many sporting opportunities, there are just as many first-class cultural offerings, museums to visit and art galleries to explore in the various villages.
Welcome to the Engadin.
