"Sadly, our stay was not what we expected as the reality did not match the facilities and information given on Hotels.com. Positives - Our room (Rabelais) was quiet, clean and attractive. Negatives - We had great difficulty finding the very rural property using the address given and had to ask locals for directions, twice. (The hostess admitted the address was wrong.) Check-in is from 6p.m. so this made us later still, after a long journey. Parking is not clearly marked, so we parked near...

Dat gaf ons het comfort om niet elke dag te moeten gaan uit eten...We kochten al eens iets kant en klaar om dit gezellig in de heel grote tuin op te eten. Er was ook een groot zwembad in de tuin. Het was de eigenaars niets teveel...het ontbijt werd opgediend in hun eigen living, een heel typisch plaatje van een Franse chambre d'hôtes, echt gezellig."

"Nothing like the pictures when we booked. Very shabby accommodation. One indoor very crowded pool and No facilities on site, you have to go int Saumur which is a lovely city. You have to pay extra for bedding . Beds uncomfortable and furniture all very old. Definitely not worth the money. "

"A fascinating property with a history. Fabulous views of the chateau from the bedroom windows and from the courtyard. Right in the centre of Saumur, but had a large heated indoor swimming pool. The extra treat was the pool table and pinball machine. It was easy enough to reverse the cars into the courtyard with practice. It was lovely and convenient for restaurants, the chateau and the bakery. Gilles, our host was at the end of a phone if we needed him. Nicole the housekeeper made us welcome...
