You'll love the short walk from 'The Palace' to our white sandy beach on Long Pond, one of Southeastern Massachusetts' pristine glacial lakes. This rustic summer cottage is tucked into a pine woodland and sits on a hill just above the large beach. The beach which is semiprivate, has a dock a floating raft and tons of sand - perfect for building sandcastles. The gradual entrance into the water is great for young children.
The Palace offers accommodations for up to six people. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with a queen bed and two twins (bunk bed style). The galley kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. The screened porch is set up for dining alfresco while enjoying a great view of Long Pond.
Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, a week at the Palace offers an old-fashioned style family vacation.
You can enjoy quiet morning strolls along woodland paths and refreshing daily swims while remaining surprisingly close to many popular Massachusetts destinations. Long Pond has clean, clear water with a sandy bottom and is great for small craft boating. There is a public boat ramp that accommodates small boats. Kayaks and sailboats are perfect. For over 60 years, the pond residents have raced antique sail boats on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in July and August. Fishermen love Long Pond which the state stocks with trout and salmon each Spring and Fall.
Explore miles of sandy country roads and trails that run through conservation land, cranberry bogs and along the shores of three nearby ponds.
The cottage is next to Pinewoods Camp, a folk dance and music camp. From mid June through Labor Day, you can hear the music wafting through the woods until 11 PM. On selected Sunday nights in July and August guests are invited to participate in the evening folk dance program.
Four generations of our family have vacationed on this property for over seventy years. We have worked hard to preserve its natural, rustic character and the unique old-fashioned nature of the structures.
