Bad Air conditioning, but excellent service...
Initial experience was a huge setback. I made non refundable reservations for 3 nights in a Double bed room, 7 days prior to arrival. On the night before arrival I casually phoned the hotel to check if all arrangements were in order. To my shock, the hotel showed complete ignorance of booking done via expedia.com. Despite email sent to hotel containing my non-refundable booking proof/ voucher, they couldn't oblige. Not having any alternative accommodation arrangements, I pleaded for some support. To which they agreed to accommodate for one night in a Double Bed room (which i paid for) and then second night shift me to an apartment.
Ordinarily this would be exciting for any guest. But we were travelling with luggage of 60kg. Which is a nightmare to unpack, then repack and shift within 24 hours! Anyways we had no choice. But found the hotel rooms having no signs of air conditioning functioning normally.
The weather kept fluctuating between 30-35 degrees and it became barely tolerable inside the rooms, reception, lobby, dining rooms etc.Apart from this there were no complaints. But you can imagine what an uncomfortable situation one gets into, without proper cooling, in a hot spell.
Now the positive aspects...The rooms were quite spacious and clean. Facilities were adequate, like hot water kettle, hair dryer, toiletries etc. Water pressure was also nice and glass doors in shower was secure (a rare thing in BG).
Liliyana at reception even sent my lost ipad to Smolyan for us!
