"A fancy scam. Unfortunately and disappointingly we had to cancel our reservation after the first night. Despite booking a superior room we were given a standard room which is in another building rather than the one advertised. The hotel doesn’t mention anywhere that there are two buildings. Management and staff tried to lie that our assigned room was a "superior" room - very rude and disrespectful. Do yourself a favour and avoid this hotel. "

"Great hotel in Monte Gordo, we had a fabulous stay in a wonderful town with amazing beach and very close to the Spanish border. Staff were grand, we had a very good buffet breakfast, main items to choose from. Very close to beach and shops. If needed there is a 2 1/2 mile walk to the border town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio along a straight road but the beach walk is glorious although twice the distance. Beach is just fantastic. "We got the cheap studio with the sofa beds that dont have such great reviews. However, we turned them around and put them together to make a big bed. They were quite comfortable and the sheets and pillows were good quality. Very satisfied. The only issue was that there was no dish soap in the kitchen. The balcony had great views of the village and the beach. We were facing west, and had a lovely sunset. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the restaurant called Bellmonte next...
