Just stayed a few days to check out Placencia. Chabil Mar made a good base to launch from. They had an hourly shuttle into the village, and Lacho, the driver was great at finding you anywhere

Place is very peaceful. Even though it was fairly busy it always felt quiet. It is close enough to walk into town but far enough to not deal with the kookiness of town. Staff was amazing. Food was better than most restaurants we went to in town.

Our stay at chabil mar was incredible. The resort was immaculate and quiet. It has two beautiful pools and a quaint dock. The beach was kept up very nicely. The resort was maybe a kilometer away from Placencia but they offered a free hourly shuttle and complimentary bikes. We were even able to kayak into town on the free kayaks! The resort might be a bit pricey but for the luxury it was definitely worth it. Excellent place for weddings! They have very big rooms with well appointed kitchens.

My room furniture was too dark, and the curtain did not fully close. The carpet was a hazard. The staff service was excellent. There were too many trees. I felt like I was in the jungle.

Beautiful Resort. Staff was more than excellent. Natalie checked us in and let us change to a better view room at no charge. Large 1 bedroom villa with ocean view. Big kitchen fully stocked. Pools were lovely. Perfect water temp. Room service food the first night was good. Had the lobster pasta. Last couple of days we ordered food and it wasn't quite as good as that first night. We cooked most of our meals or ate in town. Lots of restaurant choices in town.

When we arrived I was surprised at how wonderful the room was - a big kitchen with loads of appliances, there was even a washer and dryer which was hugely appreciated after several weeks of travelling. There was even coffee and little bottles of rum waiting for us! The pools, the beachfront, the beautiful garden, the lovely staff, everything was wonderful! The only moment we weren't very happy was on the first day when we were woken up at nine by the reception calling to see if we wanted housekeeping - we were exhausted when we arrived and needed to catch up on sleep, so that was frustrating. Then the same day a woman came round to the room to give us a hotel newsletter and walked right into the room when she saw us standing in the kitchen behind the bar (we were in our underwear and it was uncomfortable). We asked them not to call or bring us the 'newsletters' any more and they respected our wishes so it was easily remedied. Would definitely come back.
