The Andrew and Andy on Mt. Washington

Summary:
The Andrew and Andy apartment is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers and families visiting Pittsburgh. It is located on Mt. Washington, steps away from the Monongahela Incline and the Grandview lookouts, and the bars, restaurants and shops of Shiloh Street.

A short and scenic incline ride to Station Square, guests can use public transit to visit city destinations like PNC Park, Heinz field, PPG Paints arena, David Lawrence Convention Center, Stage AE and downtown theaters.

The Space:
One bedroom apartment with outdoor patio and separate entrance. Recently renovated/decorated and a very comfortable, relaxed environment. Second floor of a three story building (walk-up) at the top of Mt. Washington providing spectacular views from almost every room. Apartment is located on the second floor of a walk-up building.

The Andrew and Andy apartment is professionally cleaned after each guest's visit and stocked with fresh linens, coffee, tea, cooking essentials and a fully stocked kitchen. There is free wifi, a smart TV to connect to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or your cable subscription.

There is also a comfortable desk with a light and power-strip for those who can't leave their work behind.

A Visitors pass for street parking is included with your stay for up to 1 vehicle Mon-Sat, Sunday parking is free. Please inquire about availability of visitors pass for longer than 3 days.

Guest Access:
Guests have unfettered access to the full apartment through both common building stairwell as well as separate door to the patio and backyard. Keyless entry (unique ID access pad) makes coming and going easy.

The Neighborhood:
Mt. Washington is located in the city of Pittsburgh on the bluff looking over downtown. It is an old-school Italian neighborhood, well kept, very authentic, great gelato available in summer time, mix of both nice bars/restaurants that are a little bit touristy (those on Grandview Ave), and old neighborhood favorites where you can hear locals debate the best way from dahntahn back up to Mt. Warshington (yes, the true Pittsburgh accent is still very much alive - remember, Pittsburgh has been called both the "Paris of Appalachia" due to it being the cultural capital of the area and the "Galapagos Islands of linguistics" because trust me, yinz've never heard anything like the local dialect). Every Saturday night (around midnight - 3AM), Pittsburgh's Swing City offers public swing dancing and great music on the Grandview lookout in front of St. Mary of the Mount!

- ~3 minute walk to Monongahela Incline
- ~7 minute Uber to Fort Pitt Museum
- ~8 Minute Uber or Incline to Station Square, South Shore shopping, restaurants, entertainment!
- ~8 minute Uber Heinz Field and Stadiums!
- ~10 minute Uber to Andy Warhol Museum
- take Monongahela Incline to Station Square and Gateway Clipper river boat to Pirates' or Steelers' game for a memorable trip

Getting Around:
One short block from Monongahela Incline (image search online, it is VERY unique to Pittsburgh). Can ride the incline down to Station Square T stop (Pittsburgh's subway system) and are a couple of stops from the ballparks or PPG Paints Arena (or on foot it's a very pleasant 20 minute walk across downtown with two bridges providing EPIC photo ops of the city and the stadiums). Uber and Lyft also work great from this location.

Other Things to Note:
It's a great apartment, great location and within a building with a great history (over 100 year old building used to be an Italian Social Club and boarding house).

Interaction with Guests:
I live close by, so I am available to provide assistance as needed - restaurant recommendations, things to do, etc. but the apartment is fully self-contained for the privacy of guests.

Really like the location. Had a few dining options and easy access to many parts of the city. Roomy enough accommodations. Sofas/futons were very uncomfortable. Construction on building was taking place during our stay which made it noisier than it may have normally been. Parking was a bit difficult.

Good stay
Fun location on Mt Washington, and easy to get to the Pirates stadium for games. Need a Roku TV do guests can use their services, we couldn’t get anything to work on the current TV in the apartment, literally nothing worked.

I recently rented this cozy apartment in Pittsburgh to attend a conference and had a wonderful experience. The neighborhood was excellent. The apartment itself was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. Holly, the host, was incredibly nice and accommodating, ensuring a smooth and pleasant stay. I highly recommend this apartment for anyone visiting Pittsburgh.

Very Accessible to Downtown Pittsburgh
We discovered that the 7-day transit pass also includes the Inclines. We travelled the inclines and trains and busses almost every day in our explorations: Baseball, museums, football, shopping, etc. Please note that if you are from Canada, there is a TV, but no channels, not even local ones for the news. Our Crave and Disney+ did not work in the USA, so the book library in the hall was useful.
