To get the most out of your mountain vacation, you just can't beat a cabin on the river, with fun and adventure built in! Here you can enjoy not only great views, but also the convenience of putting your canoe or tube directly into the water from your own yard!

Serendipity is a light and airy cabin featuring spectacular views from the deck, patio or inside. The tall cathedral ceilings and open floor plan create a spacious, sunny area for socializing. Relax in cozy comfort around the gas log fireplace and prepare meals and snacks in the well-equipped, upscale kitchen with granite countertops and stainless appliances.

A full bathroom and the master bedroom are conveniently located on this main level. Upstairs in the loft the kids will be delighted to find the bunkbed room with beds for 4! A brand new sleeper sofa on the main level accommodates extra guests. The lower level may be the biggest hit, though, with its flatscreen TV, full-size pool table and remote-controlled gas stove. There is also a twin day bed with pull out trundle bed!

From this room you can walk straight out to the lawn, just a few steps from the river. The hot tub on the lower patio offers the perfect relaxation after an active day. There's a picnic table for outdoor meals, with access to the downstairs bathroom.

Of course, the river itself may be the main selling point of this vacation home. Swim, fish, tube, canoe or kayak whenever you like, without getting in your car. You'll find two major river outfitters within walking distance.

At Serendipity Log Cabin you can do as much or as little as you please. Watch the kids and dog play on the large open lawn, while you enjoy a cocktail or a conversation from the deck. In the evening, gaze at the stars or soak in the hot tub, as you enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Explore The High Country

Serendipity Log Cabin offers a riverfront location in the northern portion of Ashe County, close to Mouth of Wilson and the Virginia line. You'll find Grayson Highlands State Park and the Virginia Creeper Trail to the north, or the New River State Park to the south. For day trips you can easily access the Blue Ridge Parkway, or take a scenic ride to the quaint, historic town of West Jefferson.

The 34.3-mile Virginia Creeper Trail is most commonly accessed from Abingdon or Damascus, VA, ending near Whitetop Station at the VA-NC border. The trail offers a fun-filled day for hikers, bicyclists or horseback riders. Rent a bike and enjoy a casual and very scenic downhill glide with a gentle grade and fun stops along the way. Don't worry about the uphill – a shuttle takes you back to your car! The trail also offers access to excellent trout fishing.

When you aren't biking or splashing in the river, experience a day of small-town life in West Jefferson, with its many inviting shops, art galleries, antique malls, restaurants and cafés. Activities include a movie theater, farmer's market, live music and more. Mountain Aire golf course is less than 10 minutes from town.

The Blue Ridge Parkway gives you access to Boone or Blowing Rock, for more dining and shopping options. Block plenty of time for your drive, so you can stop to enjoy some of the country's most awe-inspiring photo-opps, as well as awesome hiking and biking.

Dogs Welcome! Must be well behaved, leash/crate trained, 2 years or older and 45lbs or less. $50 / per pet. 2 dog limit.

StayBlueRidge, located in downtown West Jefferson, offers over 80+ quality vacation rentals in West Jefferson, Boone and surrounding areas.

Family Retreat
This home is perfectly named Serendipity. It's location and privacy and beauty are serene and a much needed respite. The house felt a little smaller than we expected, but it worked out fine. There were more supplies than expected as far as cookware, dishsoap, bags and spices. There was a distinct septic smell, but liveable for us. More sensitive people might struggle. All in all, a charming, peaceful getaway for our bunch. Thank you!

Great cabin by the river
Good location for accessing both the New River and Mount Rogers/Grayson Highlands. Outfitters right across the river can ferry you up the river if you have your own boat or you can rent from them. It's a beautiful paddle. We also caught some nice small mouth. House has a great view. We enjoyed. meals together on the porch overlooking the river. The jacuzzi was awesome as well. :). Hiking at Grayson Highlands was lovely, and we even drove an hour to Damascus to ride our bikes down the Virginia Creeper Trail. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Would stay here again.

Septic system problem
This would be a five-star, but the reason for the poor rating overall is there is a serious septic system issue with this property that needs to be addressed. The house and location are beautiful otherwise.

Disappointed
Small. Like really small. Old furniture, dining room table sagging in the middle, bedroom tiny Tiny! Mattress in bedroom closet. 1 couch, old, 1 chair. I’ve stayed in a lot of cabins, the last 2 have been disappointing. Would not recommend. Also very pricey. Especially with the size of cabin. Ain’t happy. In case you were confused.

Very clean, quiet, relaxing long weekend. Get your groceries before you get there! Groceries are 50 minutes away no matter which way you travel. Don't expect to eat out without some traveling. Beautiful views. Definitely would go again.

A nice little fall getaway
A very nice, cozy, clean and well maintained cabin. Right on the river, so if it's warm enough, bring some tubes to float or use one of the many local outfitters. Good central location to visit local outdoor destinations such as New River Bike Trail, Grayson Highlands, Damascus and the New River itself. Stone Mountain is also within an hours drive, but we didn't make it there. Guess that's a good reason to come back.

Not what I expected
The property was supposed to have a usable hot tub and we never got one good use of of it. The property managers blamed us for the problems even though they were called twice to fix then and never did. The hot tub did not get hot The lights were out and the outside light for the hottub was out. The filter kept coming out and floating. Then the housekeeper lied on how many people were there when we checked out and we were blamed for stealing sheets that were later found.

Five stars
We had a great stay! The house is clean and well stocked. On a quiet street with a great yard leading right up to the New River. Great location for River activities as there is a drop in site at the end of the road or a canoe/kayak/tube rental across the river and another right down the road. We will definitely stay again!

Location Great…that’s about it.
The cabin location was fantastic. Right in the New River that we just had to walk into the river for a swim/float. The yard was perfect for the dogs and the exterior of the cabin was nice. The interior was less than what we expected. The cabin was super dusty and moldy. The two bunk beds were so shaky that we could only use the bottom bunks for fear of falling. The master bed was in dire need to replacing as was the couch and dining room table which was sagging like crazy. The main room ceiling fan can’t be used because it grinds on the light fixture. With a little bit more care this could be a really nice cabin, but it is lacking right now.

River Tubing and Relaxation
This house is beautifully situated water-front and we thoroughly enjoyed tubing the New river every day we were there. Our mini Aussie was welcomed at the property and he got to go swimming every day. Some drawbacks to the house were a few things that needed repair (ceiling fan, a cabinet door in the kitchen, the coffee maker). Hopefully the property manager will address the items soon because we'd love to come back and stay again!

Beautiful
We had such a amazing time staying here. The place is so beautiful and cozy and nature with river makes it amazing spot to be with family, however my problem is that dog hair was everywhere and it seem like it wasn't mopped for very long time and dust was just falling from everywhere.Maybe is not big deal for average person but for people with alergies is killer and we pretty much couldn't breathe especially at night. My teen son is super alergic on dog and cat and dust so he was pretty much medicated fot the whole time. This is honest review we still loved the place and would definitely go back.

Absolutely beautiful
This cabin along the river is stunning. We went in February and got some snow but look forward to coming back with our kids in the summertime. Look forward to using the fire pit. Everything was clean and definitely up to our standards. Very beautiful front deck to relax on with plenty of space and seating. We had one small issue but it was handled properly by management.
