"As avid fishermen, the Fisherman's Package was a dream. The fishing guide made our trip unforgettable, and the catch of the day ended up on our dinner table!"

GUEST ACCESS
- Guests at Cast Iron Lodge have access to the entire home and its amenities. Enjoy the use of the lakeside pier, canoes, kayaks, paddle board, BBQ, fire pits, laundry room, etc.
-Make use of the WiFi and entertainment system when you're not out on the lake adventuring or hiking nearby trails enjoying the fresh air.
-There is one gravel driveway with parking areas that can hold 6+ cars and trailers if needed.

SOME NOTES ABOUT THE NORTHWOODS:
- This is in the forests and you will likely see bugs, mice, bats or furry critters (including bears!). We do maintain the property with regular pest control, but due to the surroundings, or if doors are left open, or food is left outside the house, this can attract critters.
- There are no refunds for storms or power outages. If there is a power outage, there will be no water and potentially no heat for a short term. The generator is available.

PLEASE NOTE:
-Summer Guests The absence of modern air conditioning can enhance the rustic charm and authenticity of a log cabin experience. Log cabins are known for their excellent insulation properties, naturally keeping the cabin cooler in the summer. Opening the windows at night to let in the cool air is a smart way to maintain comfort and enjoy the natural breeze and sounds of the outdoors.
-Fall/Winter Please understand, that winters are very cold in Northern Wisconsin. Our log home is large with 35-foot ceilings. It can feel drafty at times and when the temperatures drop the furnaces have a hard time keeping up. We cannot fulfil requests to keep the cabin at temperatures above 70 degrees. Prepare for Wisconsin winters.
- The lodge has delicious-tasting well-water
- Cell phone service is spotty for some in the area, so download the maps offline before arriving.
Overall, the Cast Iron Lodge provides a luxurious and serene setting for those looking to enjoy northern Wisconsin's natural beauty and recreational opportunities.

Wisconsin Vacation
The house was large and spacious for our group of 17, ranging in age from 4 months to 64 years. The beach towels, games and children’s toys came in handy. Kitchen has a nice layout for several people to work together! Loved the beautiful wooden kitchen table! Water off pier was shallow for school age children. Would recommend water shoes for the rocky bottom. Quiet roads for walking or gravel cycling. Owners were great to work with. Would recommend for your large group of family or friends!

Fantastic lodge on a beautiful lake for a family reunion!
Tremendous family memories were made the last two weeks staying at Cast Iron Lodge on Lac Vieux Desert!! The lodge’s interior and exterior spaces are spacious, well designed so that my family’s three generations of adults and children could gather, eat, play, and visit with ease. We loved canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and mtn biking. We rented a pontoon from Rob and the kids and adults had a blast tubing and water skiing! Phil and Amandy were excellent hosts, answering any questions that we had in a timely fashion. I highly recommend a stay at Cast Iron Lodge!

Outstanding property
Whenever one books a vacation rental, there’s always this nagging doubt that the marketing is maybe ways away from reality. In this case, it was, but as a pleasant surprise. This is a phenomenal property and was extremely comfortable for our party of 15 - 5 families. We had plenty of space, lots of amenities and the view was a million dollar view. The boat slip (and lift) was a really convenient amenity. The best passer of the property was the location. Far away from traffic and crowds and nestled within mature green areas of a lakeside forest. The response from the owners are really on point and we enjoyed corresponding with them. Overall highly recommend this rental.

We often gather as a family, but this was a first for fishing in Wisc. Some family members live in the area and we have not seen in years so they visited for a few hours one day. It was great for our 2 1/2 yr old to catch first fish. Weather was great and lodge was perfect for our group. Have fished in the area 60 yrs ago, so was a homecoming and the fish caught were very healthy, no grubs.

Amandy's communication was like none other! Kept us up to date with things to do in the area, places to get wood and a boat as we got closer to our dates. She was very responsive with all my questions. Owners responded immediately when there were issues with the toilets. House was comfortable and fit our family of 20 easily. The lake was amazing! This home is big and beautiful.. If you have older kids the lakefront is awesome. If you have younger children it gets a lot of the wind and waves on this side of Lac View Dessert lake, and there is no beach.. Just a rocky bottom. Though rocky it is a great place to fish. We were able to land a few small mouth bass and other small fish. The fire pit outside is nice but if the wind blows just right it blows into the house. Make sure to close all doors and windows. The home has a nice screened in porch for morning devotions and coffee and a place to escape the Wisconsin state bird the mosquito. The home has many amenities and a large enough kitchen to cook for a large group. The home is dark so if you like light, bring your own.. it was fine for us but hard to read at night The cleaning crew did a great job of providing us a clean place to come to but the wood beams and fans were very dusty and there were many cob webs. We were even met with two bats which we promptly took care of. No fault of anyone's.. it is the north woods. Two of the bathroom doors didn't lock so I hope they fix that for the next group. The beds were comfortable and they supplied swimming towels which was a nice convenience. The hosts were quick to respond with any questions or concerns we had. We are hosts as well ... we would highly recommend this place. Just wanted you to know the few things we encountered. We would definitely rent this again!

Lakeside log cabin
The property was nice for our group of 11 family members. The house is spacious and well built, but the appliances are showing some age. Renters do not control the thermostat so prepare accordingly - we stayed in early summer and it was cool in the house. We recommend you make sure to bring bug spray/bracelets, bath and shower soap, toilet paper, napkins and paper towels, paper plates, garbage bags, dish soap and dishwasher pods (must use pods because as the owner pointed out to us, the dispenser in the dishwasher doesn’t work). We enjoyed the lake and fires in the fire pit at night. The dock was very nice. We had a great boat rental from Rob, recommended by the owner. Rob also provided firewood and went out of his way to provide us excellent customer service.

Northwoods Guys Weekend
We had 8 guys up for a weekend of snowmobiling and ice fishing. The place was awesome for some much needed recovery after we beat our bodies up on the trails. The water pressure was amazing and the hot water seemed endless, I'm pretty sure they have a tankless water heater. The driveway is long and could be difficult if you have a trailer. We had a 28' trailer behind a f250 (roughly 60') and did have a heck of a time turning it around near the house. We had a blast and plan to use this rental as our Northwoods guys trip destination for years to come

Our stay was wonderful! The pictures of the house do not do it justice. It is beautiful and the views even more so. We found the kitchen to be excellent for cooking, a dinner for 10, as well as a brunch. As we were there for a wedding we did not get as much time as we would have liked at this house. Perfect for our family gathering
We had 12 adults and 8 kids of varying ages, converging from 4 states across the country. It was perfect for us - plenty of bedrooms and beds, all spread out enough to give privacy as needed, but also beautiful family/dining/kitchen and outside areas to gather together when we wanted. Everything was really clean, and the housekeeper let us in, showed us around and was super friendly. Getting a pontoon for the week was also easy, and we loved fishing and swimming off it. Anchored off the public beach across the lake (Lac Vieux Desert Campground) and we all spent the day there grilling and swimming. Saw and heard the bald eagles just beside the dock all week, and enjoyed the loon visit every evening. Great communication with hosts. Thanks!

Great property, Terrible experience.
Beautiful Expansive Property on the lake. Unfortunately that's it. What should have been a warm Thanksgiving weekend with family turned into a nightmare almost immediately as we got there. Having driven 6 hours, we arrived at the snowed in property where the temperature was 58*F with no running water for 3 hours past check in. Immediately upon arrival we received a phone call from property owner who claimed I would have to pay him $250 if I tried to raise the temperature again past 67*F that he felt should be comfortable for us and our kids, including a 6 month old. The owner then kept on remotely resetting the temperature through a Nest thermostat until we contacted VRBO. Had it not been for the fact that it was very late, and we were 6 hours away with small kids and an infant, we would have left immediately. While there are certain comforts one might forego, heat should not be one of them, not when you're paying several thousand dollars for a weekend, and the temperatures are to drop to 10*F. Great Property. Horrible Experience. Would definitely not recommend.

The property is everything advertised and more. Beautiful property with all the features that made our getaway carefree. Had a secluded in the woods feel despite other close by homes while grocery pickups were just minutes away. Eagle's nest on the property was a treat as our family watched the eaglets take flight. Kids had a great time with lake activities along with the adults and plenty to do inside on the rainy cool days. To top it off, Phil and Amandy were wonderful hosts and were sincerely interested in our family enjoying their property. Definitely recommend! Thanks again Phil and Amandy for your hospitality!
