Hotel Casablanca Imperial may have been one of the most charming places I have ever stayed. Several of the buildings are old (but well maintained) structures from the Imperial Era. It is located pretty much next door to the Museu Imperial and is a short walk to the cathedral and Rua do Imperador. The staff was very nice. We also had probably the best breakfast of the trip.
Beautiful and romantic old style hotel, close to most of the main attractions ,staff very helpful.Good breakfast ,bathrooms need a little restyling but apart from that we had an excellent experience .

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Nice old building, well-maintained. Friendly staff and the room was quite.
The compound has a number of small buildings, some of the quite modern construction. The room was very small, located in a modern building. I was disappointed and feel that we did not get a good value for a double deluxe room. I expected something much better. Probably would stay somewhere else next time.
Front desk lady was not nice, room was noisy. breakfast was great and crew at breakfast were nice and polite. Good location (right next to the museum and waking distance from stuff) I think it could have being a very good hotel but it’s lacking good managing. I don’t regret staining there but I wouldn’t stay again.
We enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful, historic property, and is right next to the Palácio Emperial. It is also within walking distance to the other historic sights in town. I especially loved the breakfast area, and of course breakfast was delicious too!
Everything about this charming hotel is highly recommended!
The staff go out of their way to help with anything! The beds and linens are top quality. You can beat the price or the location,
My only complaint is our trip was too short!!!
Hotel did not honour room paid for-Poor Experience
The hotel was not honest in its approach. We booked a room, the picture of the room is provided by the hotel to Hotels.com. We saw the picture and we looked forward to staying in this stately home. Unfortunately, traffic due to an accident in Rio made us late for the wedding that we had to get to. We were still within reasonable time for check-in. The hotel led us to a room outside the hotel and through the carpark. It was a thin plasterboard walled room that had windows that were also plasterboarded up. There was damp up and down the walls. It was damp and dingy. We could not wait however, we had to get to the wedding. Within moments of us getting in the car to leave I got a notification from Hotels saying 'We heard your plans recently changed, and you were unable to stay at Hotel Casablanca Imperial as planned.' This was strange!? So we booked a room and the hotel cancelled this room and put us in the substandard room in the carpark. I got the standard message from Hotels.com saying about your upcoming stay...so this was not an error on the part of Hotels.com. I clicked to pay at the property and they asked me to pay upfront, which I did...before being led to this awful room. The thin walls meant sleep was minimal, the noise from the cars parked around the room was loud and even peoples footsteps and talking could be heard throughout the stay. I was really looking forward to staying in this beautiful historical building. We did not get this pleasure.
Great customer service! We came early in the morning and we were able to get our room immediately, even though the checking time was in the afternoon. The hotel is pretty and has an imperial feel to it. The location of the hotel is excellent: all the main attraction are pretty much a walk distance away. The only negative thing was the humidity in our room. All the bed covers felt damp and nothing got dry in the room. The room was spacious and clean and the housekeeper was very friendly with us. In sum: worth of the money.
