"Budget hotel doesn’t have to get a low mark. Of course, you can’t compare this hotel with 5 star hotel. Be fair. This is clean, quiet accommodation. What do we need more for this price?"

"The night I stayed the petrol station next to hotel was being refurbished. That meant jack hammers and floodlights throughout the night - the poor staff didnt know anything about it until they started and were very apologetic - staff were very good. Professional, welcoming, friendly and helpfull. However - the room I stayed in was a bit grubby (lights on side of bed showed how dusty the room and carpet were). "We had a lovely short stay at The Talbot. Rooms were clean and spacious, equipped with all the facilities needed for an overnight stay. The bedside book by local author was a lovely touch. The breakfast was extensive, and plenty of options for vegetarian and vegan guests. It would have been nice to have a vegan pastry option but great that a full vegan breakfast and condiments were on the menu. Waiting and reception staff were polite, kind and extremely helpful. My only complaint was that the bed in my room was uncomfortable (this wasn't the case for other guests). The mattress seemed lumpy and the bed base could be felt through the mattress, meaning I had a poor night's sleep. Aside from this, I could not fault the hotel staff and facilities, hence the 5 star review. Thank you for a very pleasant stay! "
