Penzance Flat: Nice, but Frustrating
The property itself was fine. The interior was clean. The welcome goodies were much appreciated. The front entrance off the street was dirty--weeds, dead leaves from the plants, and trash littered the step-down entry.
The bed was saggy and give both of us back aches. The worst part was unresponsiveness of the management team. The messages leading up to our arrival were inconsistent and confusing. Two mentioned that the check-in code for the lock box could be found in my on-line account, which I didn't have. So I set up an account--and no instructions were there. Phone calls to the office AND the emergency number netted zero call-backs and help even though I left numbers at the office during working hours! The listed emergency number didn't work--the line kept dropping or disconnecting. We sat in our car in cold weather trying to figure out how to get in. I finally found one email of the several received with the info. I got into the flat, then couldn't get out! The latch was stuck closed. I went into the back patio, climbed through the gate into the adjoining property, where I met a young man coming out of his flat with his dog. He led me through his building to the street where I could give the entrance key to my partner who was standing outside in the cold and rain with our luggage . The inside door lock was stuck so badly that my partner had to hit it HARD to get it to work, so that we could get out. We were afraid that we'd end up breaking the lock.
