Deer How Farm - Patterdale near Ullswater (Dog-friendly)

Deer How Farm Cottage is a beautifully refurbished 4-bedroom holiday cottage situated in the centre of Patterdale, a short stroll from Glenridding, Lake Ullswater and the Ullswater Steamers. We fell in love with this property as soon as we arrived, and we're sure you will too.

The beautifully decorated holiday home is perfect for families or groups of friends, perhaps to head up onto the fells or to use as a base to explore the Lake District.

Head up the private driveway to this impressive stone building and enter the house into the large living room that comprises fab sofas, a log burning stove seated in the original fireplace, exposed wooden beams and a wooden floor, both made with elmwood. The view from the large living room windows is natural grassland with Place Fell beyond. Imagine coming in after a day on the fells to warm up next to the roaring fire!

Additionally, the first of the bedrooms on the ground floor is a double with ensuite facilities that benefit from stunning views of Place Fell. Off the other end of the living room is the utility area that leads to the enormous kitchen and dining area. The dining table is suitable for eight people to dine and a pleasant space to host while cooking a hearty meal after a long day exploring, and there is a dishwasher too. Hence, there's no need to worry about too much washing up. If you don't fancy cooking, you could always take a short walk to the White Lion Inn down the road or The Patterdale Hotel. Or even visit the local shop to stock up the kitchen fridge and freezer back home with lots of goodies!

Upstairs are three additional bedrooms, two doubles, one of which is ensuite, and a twin bedroom. All three bedrooms are light and bright thanks to the large sash windows, all benefiting from a view of Place Fell and Patterdale village. The family bathroom is modern by design with a bath with shower head attachment, loo and basin.

Lovely cottage
The cottage is lovely and well equipped. It’s a rustic cottage so if you’re expecting immaculate perfection you will be disappointed but if you want an authentic, cosy setting this is exactly what you’re looking for. We really enjoyed our stay

Great location
We stayed in October, a family of four and one grandparent. The property is spacious and well decorated. The location is great with some good walks from the doorstep and lots of good places to eat out within minutes in the car/ bit further on foot. (Can highly recommend Glenridding’s Beckside Bar and for a special meal, Glenridding Hotel). The kitchen was well equipped and a great heart to the cottage, unfortunately in the lounge there isn’t a smart TV, which came as a surprise and took away from the holiday a bit. A Blu ray player was available but no discs were left to browse, no books or games (not even a pack of cards) either in the property which would have been a nice touch for rainy days with bored kids (as we can only fit so much in the car!). There are three doubles and a twin available, all the doubles are standard size which is worth noting if you have taller/bigger people in your party (my husband is 6’5” so we kicked the kids out of the twin)! Some wood was left for a fire in the wood burner which was a lovely touch. It would have been nice to have an extra dryer for wet clothes after walks, but the utility space was really useful after long days hiking. Thank you for a lovely stay, Kirsten & family
