"Lovely Victorian hotel in great location with a steep history. Unfortunately the hotel seems to be in a time warp and not in touch with modern day competition with regards to room quality tv, bed, furnishings. The dining options were extremely close windowed and not flexible. Breakfast was really poor quality with limited choice with many expected food items not bailable or offered. It seemed to be more in line with a seaside bed and breakfast offering rather than what appeared to be a 4 star hotel. We don't regret staying at The Metropole. Just that we were a little disappointed "

"What did we like?...EVERYTHING Stunning location with beautiful views, amazing property taking you back to a more gentler time in days gone by, from the moment you drive down the driveway. The attention to detail in our room was impeccable and there was nothing that the staff wouldn't do for you. For a relaxing break away from the norm I can not recommend this place highly enough. "Our stay at Somerville House was excellent. Sheila and Steve were very welcoming and provided everything to make our stay comfortable. The breakfasts were absolutely first class, the beds were extremely comfortable and the room had plenty of storage space. The beautiful garden was quiet and colourful with plenty of garden tables and chairs to use and a large canopy for shade which Steve put up for us. We had a choice of leaflets providing information about local places to visit and Sheila's suggestions helped us enjoy some lovely days out during our stay. We will definitely return!
