Welcome to our lake-side cottage sitting just a few feet from beautiful Maple Lake. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine on the deck while taking in breathtaking views and watching Geese, Swans, Ducks and Blue Herons.
In summer enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking and pedal boating. In winter, ice skating, skiing, tubing, ice-fishing and snowmobiling. Kick back and soak up the slow pace of lake living on roughly one acre of lakefront property at your disposal.
You will have this romantic cottage getaway which offers 864 square feet of rest, relaxation and beautiful views of the lake all to yourself. The cottage is located just yards from the banks of Maple Lake.
Open the front door and step into a large open concept space with vaulted ceilings. The space has a comfortable full sized sleeper sofa and chair to sit while watching your favorite movies or games on a 55" 4K internet connected smart HDTV with Netflix and the ability to log into any of your own apps. Sit in the additional loveseat and read while gazing at the lake. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax.
The comfy bedroom offers a soft, sleep-like-royalty, king bed and a door which leads to a large deck with a grand view of the lake. There is a large closet in which you’ll find an iron and ironing board for that last minute spruce up.
The kitchen offers a stove, oven, pots, pans and what-not needed to prepare meals and your favorite goodies. There is a dining table that seats six with four chairs and an available bench that expands the seating. Enjoy your meals while looking out the floor to ceiling window at the lake.
We provide internet access with high-speed WIFI suitable for “ work from home” guests and USB charging ports.
The bathroom has all the necessities, such as towels, hair care, body supplies and a few “just in case you forgot something” items.
A washer & dryer is provided in the unit, perfect for longer stay guests.
The large grassy yard has majestic maple trees, a gazebo, fishing deck, boat dock, and 240 feet of shoreline. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful surroundings but is centrally placed so you can be in the bustle of big city life in short order. We are just 20 mins from Kalamazoo, 20 mins from Portage, 40 min to Lake Michigan, 2 hrs to Chicago, 2.5 hrs to Detroit, and in just 2.5 hrs you can be on Canadian soil, our neighbors to the North.
Maple Lake is an all-sports lake that is 172 acres in size with a maximum depth of around 15 feet. There is a public boat launch at nearby Sunset Park, a short 10 mins stroll away. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, pedal boats, sailing, jet skiing and tubing can all be enjoyed on the lake. While fishing on Maple Lake you may catch perch, bluegill, catfish, bass, northern pike, walleye or carp. In summer kayaks are available for rent from Paw Paw Kayak Rentals. The cottage is just a short swim, kayak or walk over to Maple Isle. Maple Isle is a public park with restrooms, BBQ stands, swing sets, and jungle gyms for the kids. Guests have access to the entire cottage and the yard. There is a locked cleaner's closet which is off limits, please.
There will be very limited to no interaction with the hosts.
The Village of Paw Paw is a small town with a small-town atmosphere where you can enjoy community events throughout the year like concerts on the lake, Art Hops, Paw Paw Days, Arts & Crafts Shows, Antique and Classic Car Shows, Parades, Farmers Market and the Paw Paw Wine & Harvest Festival. Paw Paw is located in the heart of grape vineyards, producing sweet grapes used for wine production in the local wineries. Two popular wineries, St. Julian and Warner are less than five minutes away by car. We encourage you to visit the local restaurants, coffee houses, wineries, and microbrew pubs during your stay. We're sure you'll love the experience. The Cottage is located near Kalamazoo, Portage and just a short drive from several beautiful towns along the Lake Michigan shoreline. South Haven, Douglas, Holland, Grand Haven, and Benton Harbor/St. Joseph are just a few of the towns worth visiting.
Parking in Paw Paw is easy with both on-street and off-street parking in most commercial settings. Most people will find having a car a necessity, however, If you are an average walker you can get to quite a few restaurants and shops on foot. We are less than 1.5 miles from the village center.
Van Buren Public Transit is a public transportation agency providing curb-to-curb service to anyone - including wheelchair-accessible transportation. Services include Dial-a-ride, Reservations and Flex Routes, and a local bus service.
We have a "bring your own firewood" fire pit for your use that is located just on the other side of the back deck.
The yard is a shared space which you'll share with us or other guests. We also share the space with typical lakefront wild-life. You will see various waterfowls, birds, red squirrels, muskrats and bunnies. Plus one stray gray cat who wanders by from time to time to check up on us. Please, please, be respectful of these critters by not trying to feed them, or attempt to pet or interact with them. You are allowed unlimited photos!
