My grilfriend and I booked a two week stay in The Grand Sole in early May. It was our first trip to Thailand we found the hotel and flight for a bargain price.
The hotel was easily reached from Bangkok airport after a taxi journey of just under two hours. The Grand Sole itself was actually quite pleasant. The hotel staff were efficient and friendly, with the reception manned 24 hours a day. The buffet breakfast, whilst being nothing to write home about, was as good as that in most other hotels. The room was clean and comfortable, with all the facilities that were needed. The hotel also had a pool, coffee shop and in the evenings a bar and restaurant, we did not use these but they all looked to be of a good standard.
The location of the hotel, by Pattaya standards, is reasonably quiet. It is set a little way back from a constantly busy road, but from our room this was not intrusively noisy. Also while it is within an easy walking distance of bars there were no "noisy" bars near enough to be heard.
The main advice I would give before booking here is to read a little about Pattaya itself. As a resort it is very lively, noisy and often brash. I knew this before booking and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. If you want to let your hair down and enjoy a hedonistic trip then this may be the perfect place, if you are looking for a peaceful retreat, then perhaps not.
