This was my first trip to the Upper Peninsula, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Dino (the host) answered all of my pre-trip questions, which was very helpful. I had some difficulty finding the property when I first arrived because it's very secluded, as are most of the homes in that area. GPS isn't entirely reliable, but Dino provided additional landmarks and guidance.
The space itself was very clean and looked exactly like the photos. There was plenty of room for me, but it could be tight for more than two people. The beach is within walking distance and the location is very quiet and peaceful. Some tips for enjoying your stay and visit in Paradise:
- This rental has well water, so I suggest bringing bottled water to drink as you may not enjoy it straight out of the tap. (It's fine for showering.)
- The fridge is very small, so plan on keeping food in a cooler.
- Speaking of food, bring your own as the closest full-size grocery store is an hour away. Paradise is very remote.
- Bring an AWD/4-wheel drive vehicle as all of the secondary roads are basically compacted sand and it gets soft in some places.
- Be prepared to drive at least an hour to other cities/attractions, with the exception of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, which is about 15 minutes away.
- When you see a gas station, refill your tank regardless of the level because, as I said, this area is very remote.
I could write more, but I'm limited on characters. Overall, I had a fantastic time in the U.P.!
