Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The hotel is old, run down, with mold in the bathrooms, old dirty paint in the room.
Front desk staff unhelpful with calling a taxi to get to airport.
Rooms on ground floor were so loud I had to wear my noise canceling headphones.
Never ever again
Nice facilities, not a great location for walking.
We ended up having to stay in Pangkalan Bun unexpectedly when our flight was cancelled. We booked this hotel at the last minute. The staff were very nice and the facilities good. My only complaint would be that it is a fairly long walk to get to the main part of town where the “sites” are. A short drive, so if you prefer that, the location is fine, but if you like to walk, pick something a little closer to the water.

I guess you’re getting your money’s worth. The beds were very uncomfortable and the sheets tissue paper thin. The food was okay. There’s no soap in the bathroom.
Excellent stay here. Very clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was mostly all COLD rice noodles and vegetables. Toaster was available. One morning we had someone doing eggs but the next morning there was no one.
A great place to lay your head after a few days on a boat on the jungle. The hotel is a little tired but the restaurant for dinner was a pleasant surprise and the staff there very friendly and went out of their way to get the order correct (one of us was vegetarian). Great lime juice too! Breakfast was not so good, more local food. But even the locals were crowded around the bread and toaster so it was difficult to get the one thing we wanted! All round it served a great purpose for us.
Comfortable, one of the nicer hotels that we passed from the airport. Neighborhood was not particularly tourist friendly...but was typical for the location. Hotel had a decent restaurant where we are most of our meals. There was also a karaoke bar/lounge which ran until 11 pm. A tad loud, but not horrible. Clientele seemed to be official Indonesians on business travel. Room was clean and comfortable. Would recommend for short stays of 3 nights or less, since local neighborhood held little interest. Good stop over on our way to Kalimentar from Bali.
The hotel is clean, spacious, and well designed. it incorporates some traditional architectural design features making it much more interesting than the generic tourist hotel. The post and beam construction is made with iron-wood, a locally produced wood from the rain forest. The room was large and clean. The toilet and shower areas were well designed and spacious. The airconditioning was powerful. The sheets and towels were changed each morning. The staff was courteous and helpful. I borrowed the hotel's motorcycle to go to the bank at no extra charge. The also helped me exchange money using my credit card. In terms of value for your money, this is right up there. Excellent value for the cost. We put a cot in the room so the 3 of us could use one room, and it was great. The breakfasts are excellent with a mix of both traditional Indonesian food and also Western food. The restaurant on the premises opens onto a beautiful garden with outdoor patio tables and chairs. The fresh lime drink from the restaurant was perfect. I would recommend this as the best place to stay in Pangkalan Bun, and I've stayed at 3 other hotels.
The hotel and the staff were superb. The staff was very helpful in so many ways. Unfortunately, the ATMs in town did not work when I arrived, so no one could get money out. Also, the street in front of the hotel does not have a continuous sidewalk, so I had to walk in the street, which is dangerous. Other than that, the hotel was lovely, with an excellent garden. Could use a pool.
The room was spacious and clean. Although the furniture was a bit on the old side, everything works well. Really enjoyed staying at Arsela Hotel, especially given our room was in the quiet area.
