"Large 1970s house. Tidy and good location to beach, cafes and 4 square shop. Reasonably happy with stay but there some things that need addressing.1) Upstairs Queen bed- the mattress springs gone on the right side and the mattress feels like you are sleeping on a slope. Definitely needs replacing 2) Lack of outdoor chairs on the deck 3) Pool cue sticks in garage has lost their tips and need to be replaced 4) outside furniture (table and chairs could do with a good clean or be replaced 5) BBQ -...

"A fantastic stay. The property is very well appointed. The pool was a magic addition and great for all the kids. The weather was a bit hit and miss but the property itself was fantastic. We didn’t think we would use the tennis court but found we were on it every day. Highly recommended."

"Highly recommend this accommodation if you are seeking a private, secluded place to stay but within easy, short travel to the city (any of Wgtn, Lower Hutt or Porirua). The deck area is fantastic - a view of the forest, great couches and the hot tub. We will definitely book again."

"This is an exceptional property set in a beautiful rural location with exquisite views over landscaped gardens. It is so peaceful that you feel as though you’re miles from anywhere when you’re actually only 2km (a lovely walk!) from the town boundary. The cottage is incredibly well set up with everything you might need and Shona and Tony are fantastic hosts - friendly and helpful, and on hand if you need anything. "We enjoyed our stay. Kitchen is very clean and well equipped with cooking equipments. The outdoor spa is also very clean and is a nice spot to relax at the end of the day. "

"We had a family funeral to attend in Waikanae and this home was perfect for our family to retreat to in the evenings. We loved waking up and taking a few steps to the beach and it’s also very close to a four square and playground for the kids. Everything we needed and toasty warm in the middle of winter. "Great place with a separate kitchen dining space from the lounge which was fantastic when wanting separate space for adults and teenagers."

"I liked the view. I didn't like anything else. I booked it at short notice for a two week stay and moved out after 3 nights. The back door only locked from the outside. There was only one other door - not good in an emergency. Two of us staying. 3 towels, 2 face cloths, 1 hand towel and 1 bathmat. I had to move my bed so I could shut my bedroom door. I had to ask for heaters to be supplied. There was no wifi. Lacking in any charm."

Fun place to stay

"Loved our corner room on the 8th floor! We were overlooking the city and felt like we were kings. The room had two full walls of windows; exceptional! It was decorated with lots of fun color too. The hotel was also right on the street with great places for dinner; could walk to several great spots. Had great parking as well."

"Love this place. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but they have what you need. There was a $10 a day discount for not having the room cleaned daily. Easy walk to Parliament, National Archive/Library, and buses/trains. Gricery market is also just around the corner. I will stay again!"
