About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Little Owl Cabin at Mt. Rainier - Pika

Chickaree and Pika are the newest, most luxurious and feature-rich of the Little Owl cabins.

Designed by Den Outdoors and built in 2022, these cabins--neighbors and identical twins--combine modern guts with vintage decorative vibes.

Chickaree and Pika were designed for those guests seeking the look, feel and warmth of a vintage cabin, with all the modern conveniences of an upscale primary home. They're ideal for couples or families with one small child. Dogs are welcome (1 per cabin)!

You'll enjoy a cedar hot tub heated to 103-104 degrees; top notch appliances and cookware; a memory foam queen mattress, pellet wood stove, bidet toilet, speedy broadband, level 2 EV charging, Klipsch bluetooth speaker, ductless heat/AC, and all the most popular streaming services on our Samsung Frame TV.

Chefs and foodies will rejoice in the professional-grade kitchen: dishwasher, convection oven, induction cooktop and microwave by Bosch; cookware by All Clad, Le Creuset and Staub; a KitchenAid stand mixer and food processor; Miele refrigerator w/ice maker, sharp Henckels chef's knives, Technivorm coffeemaker, OXO burr grinder, Chemex carafe, Fellows kettle and french press, Weber gas grill, and more utensils than you'll possibly need to satisfy your inner gourmand.

The bathroom features Rudy's hair and body products, a Toto bidet toilet, and a shower with handheld and rainshower fixtures.

At just under 450 square feet, these cabins pack in more luxury, features and usable space than most homes triple their size. Tiny home enthusiasts will appreciate the exceptional design quality and creative use of space in these tiny-but-mighty structures.

When you're ready to get outside, you'll be within 30 minutes of Mt. Rainier National Park, White Pass Ski Area, the Pacific Crest Trail and the Goat Rocks Wilderness Area.

Our cabin is located in a vacation home community with a roughly 50/50 mix of weekenders and full-timers. The neighborhood consists of traditional cabins, ranch homes and trailers in roughly equal parts. You will see an occasional car and pedestrian passing by, and our neighbors are within sight, but you'll still enjoy plenty of privacy and quiet for most of the season.

Be advised that Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends in Packwood are more crowded than usual, and often noisy. Same for the week of July 4. If you're seeking peace and quiet on those holidays, we don't recommend this cabin.

Max occupancy = 2 adults and 1 small child
We love hosting, and we want you to have the best possible experience here. To that end, it's critical that every adult in your party reads and acknowledges these policies and rules.

IMPORTANT: BY BOOKING WITH US, YOU AGREE TO ALL OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. FURTHER, YOU ENSURE THAT EVERYONE IN YOUR PARTY WILL ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING POLICIES AND RULES.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance for your own protection. We will not make refund/cancellation policy exceptions for reasons of illness, accidents, injuries, family tragedies, etc.

DAMAGE DEPOSIT PRE-AUTHORIZATION

Per the rental agreement when you booked, we will pre-authorize a $600 damage deposit for the card on file at the start of your stay. Your card will not be charged unless there are damages, and the authorization is released within 4 days of your departure.

UNREPORTED GUESTS

Double check the guest count on your reservation. Each guest beyond 2 is $25/person X total nights of your booking, no matter how many nights the additional guests actually stay. If your party size exceeds the number of guests reported and paid for in your reservation, then you need to notify us before you arrive. Otherwise, each unreported guest will incur a charge of $50/person X total nights in your reservation, deducted from your damage deposit; and party sizes that exceed the maximum number of allowed guests will incur an additional $150 penalty. No adjustments made for variable guest counts: if you book for 3 nights and you only have additional guests for 1 night, you'll be charged unreported guest penalties for all 3 nights.

GENERAL HOUSE RULES

Don't even think of throwing a party here. If your plans include keg stands, beer pong, Jackass stunts, loud music, or any other Animal House fantasies, please keep looking. You'll get evicted, annoy our neighbors, and forfeit your deposit. We promise, it will suck for everyone.

Check-in/out time is as stated in the listing. We cannot accommodate requests for early check-ins or late check-outs, no matter the season or circumstances.

Flushing anything but pee, poop or toilet paper is the surest way to ruin your stay and forfeit your deposit. You'll back up the septic system, which could have really foul consequences. The minimum charge to clear a septic clog is $500.

Maximum occupancy: 5 people at Chateau Marmot; no more than 4 at Little Owl and Pine Marten; and no more than 2 adults + one small child at Chickaree and Pika. Only registered guests are allowed on the property. Children aged 3 and up count as guests. Parties larger than stated in your reservation will be evicted and extra guest fees will apply. See Unreported Guests, above.

The Washington Department of Natural Resources often restricts outdoor fires in the summer to prevent wildfires. Burning during a fire ban is dangerous; the penalties are severe, and any violators will be reported and evicted without negotiation or compensation. We'll put a large magnet on the refrigerator when there's a burn ban in effect; however, we also encourage you to check the Lewis County Blog for the latest burn ban restrictions throughout your stay.

The land surrounding our cabin is home to a vast array of wildlife. Cougars, bears, bobcats and coyotes have been seen around here. Supervise your children and pets very closely.

Amplified music is not allowed anywhere on the deck or in the front yard. This includes portable outdoor speakers.

The forest is as fragile as it is breathtaking. Be mindful of your footprint, and please do your part to respect and preserve this special place. Don't harm the trees, dump waste, litter, or burn anything outside of the fire ring. Bag your pet's poop every time.

Do not put anything but people and bathing suits in the hot tub. Soap, sand, candles, or just about anything but people will damage the equipment and result in a steep charge to your credit card on file.

As the registered guest, you're required to share this information with others in your party and take responsibility for any damage(s) they might incur during your stay.

Firewood and other emergency supplies are provided for emergency use only (such as a power outage). If you use the emergency supplies during any other time, a $50 replacement fee will be deducted from your damage deposit.

PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY

We're no longer allowing couples' professional photography sessions, no matter how casual or brief. This includes ceremony, elopement, wedding, getting ready, honeymoon and other similar photo shoots taken by a professional photographer/videographer. You're welcome to take photos of course, and we hope you'll tag us @littleowlcabin when you do; but professional wedding/couples' photography is strictly prohibited for reasons that are too many and varied to explain here. Before you send us an inquiry, please know that our heels are totally dug in on this one; we will not consider exceptions.

Use of the cabin for any other type of photo/video shoot that's conducted by a professional video/photographer will require a written approval, signed agreement, and fee in addition to the nightly rate. You'll need to contact us outside of this booking platform before booking. Any products or services you're proposing to shoot must align with our look, brand and values. Send us an email with a description of what you'd like to shoot, and for whom you'll be shooting, and we'll get back to you.

Please know in advance that we take this policy very seriously, and that violation will result in immediate eviction without negotiation or compensation, and possible legal action that will require you to appear in small claims court in Lewis County, WA.

SECURITY CAMERAS

We have one exterior security camera overlooking the driveway. You'll be recorded as you come and go. If you're uncomfortable with this, please get in touch before booking so that we can make an alternative arrangement. There are absolutely no cameras anywhere inside the cabin.

EVENTS

We cannot host events of any kind, of any duration, no matter the guest count. This includes weddings, elopements, and receptions. Please, do not send us a booking request for your event--we cannot make any exceptions whatsoever.

PETS

You may bring up to two dogs with you to Little Owl, Marmot and Pine Marten; and just one to Chickaree and Pika. We don't charge pet fees, because in our experience, dogs are at least as good as their people at leaving no trace. That said, if Fido is a big shedder, please bright a lint roller and brush with you--and use them--to avoid an added cleaning charge.

We love the kitties, but not the claws and allergens. Cats are not allowed on the property.

SMOKING (TOBACCO AND CANNABIS)

Our indoor smoking ban includes tobacco, cannabis, e-cigarettes, and vaporizers. If we smell smoke or cannabis, you can expect a claim and charge to your credit card.

SUBLEASES AND TRANSFERS

Your booking is non-transferable, and no right to sublease is allowed or implied. The guest of record must be present at check-in and check-out.

WINTER DRIVING

We are accessible year-round from Seattle, Portland and points east. We don't get as much snow as you might think. For most of the winter, we're at least 1,000 feet below the snow line. That said, we'll still get a good blast of snow about twice a year, between December and April.

Nice place
Loved everything about this place. Best kitchen I’ve had at a short term rental, especially the coffee setup. If you’re a little bit older like us, getting up and down the steep ladder to the bedroom was a little tricky.

Fun mountain trip with my cousin!
We were upgraded to this cabin as the other one had undergone some construction. Turned out to be a sweet surprise! One of the cutest rentals I’ve stayed in! They thought of it all too. Anything you could possibly need I felt they accommodated. Only thing I would note is that the hot tub instructions are quite confusing!! Note the hot tub is wooden, so there isn’t a regular cover like other regular ones would have. Instead it’s a cut-out piece of foam insulation that’s laid on top…very messy! It stuck to both of our swimsuits! The instructions were to leave no debris behind in the hot tub, and if there was, that would be reflected in a charge. We felt it was odd as to how a cover with such exposure to the outdoors and disintegrating foam wouldn’t naturally contribute to debris. The only negative I have. Other than that, it’s a beautiful property and just what we needed! Thank you 💗

The cabin is wonderfully decorated and within minutes of downtown Packwood. The soaking tub in the middle of winter surrounded by snow was amazing too.
