Victorian Manor in the Heart of Cajun Country. 20 min North of Lafayette

Bellevue Manor predominately offers short term rentals, BUT we offer discounted monthly or long term rentals or leasing (inquire within). The home is 141 years old furnished with original rare New Orleans antiques. I've personally owned the home since 2006, my extended family lived here since 1874. It is located on nearly 3.7 acres of land with several miniature horses and small barn on the property. The home has 12 foot ceilings, a little over 3,000 square ft. The house has 5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a library/study, dining room and kitchen. The house sleeps 10 people comfortably or 5 couples. The DOWNSTAIRS has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, study/library, living room, dining room and kitchen. The UPSTAIRS has 3 bedrooms, a sitting area and has one full bath/shower. Outside has a BBQ and 900 sq.-ft. covered patio area. Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino is less than 5 minutes away. The house works out great for folks who don't want to rent several hotel rooms and prefer the option to have family and friend under one roof, like to cook or BBQ with family or friends privately. I've hosted guests who have come to Opelousas for local weddings, bridal groups who need a space to get ready or honeymoon suite, overseas tourists, private parities or used venue rental (priced separately). The west side of the property that is fenced can support ample parking for large events (about 2 acres). The photos describe which bedrooms are upstairs and downstairs. If you wish to learn more on the history of Bellevue Manor & it's builder you internet search the builder: Rudolph Adelbert Sebastian Mayor or google his name. He was an accomplished composer, musician, founder of one of the first all woman's brass ensemble in the South, inventor of one of the first pre-civil war breech-loading rifles and inventor of one the first from of color photography, among other things.

SPECIAL EVENTS: The home is ideal for photo shoots, special events, brides venue to get ready, private parties, corporate events and wedding receptions are separate pricing and considered a VENUE RENTAL. WEDDINGS, RECEPTIONS, VOW RENEWALS, PRIVATE PARTYS, WORK EVENTS ARE CONSIDERED A "SPECIAL EVENT" therefore the RATE is SEPARATE CONSIDERING it is VENUE RENTAL and approved per inquiry ONLY since the price needs to be adjusted on my calendar prior to booking. The VENUE rental rate is $1,800 for the day of the event, which INCLUDES the overnight accommodations for 10-12. If you don't know if your group is falls into the special event, ask please. Special events include such events as weddings, receptions, private parties, family reunions, graduation parties, bridal showers, etc. For SPECIAL EVENTS/RECEPTIONS we welcome the option to bring in your own caterer and beverages. Decorating, table rentals, outdoor lighting, optional and/or by referral. If you need recommendations, please inquire. Holiday rates apply during the year, but are quoted on your inquiry. Rates may change with guests at during seasonal times.

RENTAL EXCEPTION: If a bride has already chosen a wedding venue or reception venue elsewhere, BUT the bridal party needs a place for herself and her bridesmaids to get ready and take some photos, we treat this as a standard nightly rental rate, NOT a special event rate, but a TWO-night minimum still applies. We work with any custom package deal pricing, so try us. Please inquire via email if you have questions. Keep in mind, website does no show your phone numbers or personal email address on booking inquiries, so unfortunately initial inquiries have to me discussed via email.

House Rules no smoking inside and eating is contained in kitchen and patio areas. Absolutely NO furniture may be moved unless by special request.

The grey curtains in living room and downstairs guest bedroom (grey rooms), the curtains are ornamental and do not close. Sheers/shades can be used in the rooms. Closet doors are locked for private storage. Armoires are locked for safety, but dressers are welcome for your clothing.

We encourage quest to read, study and enjoy the antique artifacts, but please avoid handling them as we've had a few accidents. (i.e. photo collection, statuettes, figurines, etc.) It's common sense to treat this as if it were your own home. We still use this as a private family home. Thank you for understanding.

Loaded with History and Charm
Johnny shared his beautiful home with us for our family tour of Cajun Country. We had an amazing trip. The food, the people and the atmosphere was amazing. Johnny is an incredible host that willingly opens his home and history for you. When you see the decoration of the home, you will understand how truly special it is to be allowed to stay here. Thanks again Johnny. We appreciate your hospitality.

Historic Southern Charmer
This is a beautiful historic southern home just 20 minutes north of Layfayette, LA and all that the area has to offer. From the time you hit the driveway you immediately feel the WOW factor. In addition to the architecture, the home is a museum of photos and art work collected by your gracious host, Jonathan, which includes many historic family items. Even the kids enjoyed exploring the different rooms and all the memorabilia. Get the inexpensive damage insurance. While we had no issues the piece of mind was beneficial. Every morning we’d sit on the front porch enjoying the scenery and the scent of gardenias. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. Jonathan was always available at a moments notice should you need anything at all. The property is also available for events. Great stay!

Perfect Venue for a Family Stay
This historic manor was the perfect setting for an extended family stay to prep for my son's wedding. The house is an eclectic marriage of antiques and modern upgrades to make it very confortable but also make you feel as if you have been transported back into time. We were able to host a large gathering on the outdoor patio which is very convenient to the kitchen area and allow a flow of guests inside the home to tour the home. This home would make a great venue for a corporate or church gathering or special events. It has 5 large bedrooms and makes for privacy if multiple families share it. The drawing room or library is especially well done and contains numerous art work, period photos, newspaper clippings, old books, etc. The owner is in particular extremely helpful and motivated to make one's stay memorable, living nearby to answer any questions one might have. He also allowed us to visit the home twice to tour it in order to finalize wedding plans. Very accommodating, reflecting south Louisiana hospitality. We feel as if we hit the jackpot with this rental and made for a very magical and successful wedding experience - one that my son and new daughter-in-law will never forget! I highly recommend this home!

Perfect Historical Home in the Heart of Cajun Country
My friends and I were so excited when we drove up and saw this beautiful historic home. The grounds, the house and all of its antique furnishings were quite lovely and perfect. Our host, Jonathan, was indeed a perfect host. He could not have been more helpful and responsive to our needs. Jonathan met us there and gave us an interesting tour of the home and family history. We are already discussing a return visit,.

Great family vacation
We enjoyed the charm of the property. Jonathan was easy to work with. He was very accommodating. Our family enjoyed the grounds. The yard is large and nice and the kids had a great time riding the large tricycle. It is a very picturesque property. We chose to prepare several of our meals and noted the kitchen could have been better stocked with pots and pans. That being said when we were in need of any item Jonathan came through for us. I would mention if you have anyone with mobility issues the claw foot tub can be a little tricky to get in and out of. Our family had a great time. Thanks Jonathan for your wonderful hospitality.

Takes you back in time
This home is amazing. The elegant lighting fixtures with dimming switches, the incredibly elegant beds and the living room with a piano and lovely view of the old oak tree out the antique glass panes, takes one back in time. I found myself turning on the antique lighting and wondering back and forth in the central hall, just looking and relooking at how the lights illuminate the rooms and feeling a sense of wonderment. Jonathan provides wonderful southern hospitality. The home provided a wonderful family centered (5 bedrooms) place to gather as we celebrated my nieces high school graduation. Thank you Jonathan

Beautiful Unique Gorgeous Classical Southern Home!
The Victorian Manor is a hidden treasure. We rented the home for myself (bride) and bridesmaids to stay together the night before my wedding (after rehearsal dinner) and to get ready together the next day... wedding day! After my wedding reception, my new hubby and I went back to stay there. My wedding was a black and white southern classical wedding in Grand Coteau, reception at the Wolf Hall in Washington. This home fit absolutely perfect in my wedding dream! When I first drove up to Victorian Manor, I was literally breath taken. The carport was lit beautifully with gorgeous antique pieces throughout. When I walked into the home again, I was in awe. Each room is unique with gorgeous antique pieces throughout the world. It was a great spacious place for us girls to stay in the night before my big day (and I cannot wait to see the professional pictures taken posing with my bridesmaids and popping champagne under the huge ancient live oak.) We will definitely rent the Victorian Manor again for a girls weekend or even a photo shoot. P.S. Jonathan was super easy and accommodating. 15/10 rating from me!

Great place to stay!
This Manor is a beautiful place to stay. I recommend it for the groom and his family or the groomsmen. We had pre-wedding pictures taken here with all the bridal party which turned out beautiful. The manor is an old home and filled with a unique charm. The beds are antique and high off the floor. There is lots of room inside and the outside is just as charming. The owner is happy to please you and easy to work with. Thanks for the great memories of this beautiful charming place for our son's wedding weekend.

A wonderful experience!
Beautiful house with lots of ambience. The gorgeous antique furniture takes you back in time. If you don’t mind the unique features of an old house (squeaky floors, minimal outlets, sharing the shower), then you will totally enjoy your stay. The house was conveniently located near all the cities we were visiting, was in a nice, quiet neighborhood (OK, except for the railroad whistle), and had a great entertaining patio. Our host was wonderfully accommodating and friendly. We would come stay here again - and that says it all!

Wow!
This is a great house! Lots of history inside to enjoy. Our group of 7 had plenty of space even enjoying breakfast outside. Neighborhood was quiet and lots of friendly people saying hi while on our walks seeing the town. Jonathan was great to work with. He met us at the house and gave us a tour, explaining some of the history of his family home. He was always available, even recommending Pizza Shack for great pizza (and he was right!). Even though an hour away from Baton Rouge, I highly recommend this house for anyone's getaway.

Ideal Family Retreat!
My niece was getting married in nearby, picturesque Washington, Louisiana. I was thrilled when I found a place where my siblings and our kids could all stay together. We were a group of 7 adults and 5 kids. When the mother of the bride stopped by, she commented on how perfect it would have been for the bridal party to stay there, but fortunately, we found it first, HA! The house is gorgeous and well-maintained. It captures that 19th-century feeling, with modern conveniences like wifi and tv! If you love antiques and history, there is interesting eye-candy throughout! My family is one that loves to gather in the kitchen no matter how comfy the living room is, so it was cozy to have couches and a rocker in there, in addition to the dining room table. The large covered patio/carport and porch were also really nice to have on a rainy summer weekend. The enormous yard and gracious oaks make you feel like you're in the country, even though it's in the heart of town. If you pick up Billy's Boudin when you arrive in Opelousas, you can grill it up on the patio grill. (It makes for a delicious breakfast feast for a crowd when paired with Mikey's doughnuts and kolaches. Billy's and Mikey's are like 3-blocks from the manor.) Jonathan is a friendly, generous host who was flexible with our Sunday checkout time. We only had one weekend to all be together, and this place was so welcoming and comfortable! If creating a meaningful, relaxing gathering with your group is what you're looking for, this is the place!

Fabulous place for a group
We had a gathering of old friends in this beautiful historical house. It was just as was expected from the listing. All the amenities of home with a warm family feeling. Beautiful covered patio with BBQ. We really enjoyed being able to reconnect in such wonderful surroundings. Only drawback is the minimum of 2 nights rental when we could only stay for 1. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a beautiful, welcoming home away from home!
