Enjoy the calm ambiance of Omena in this home set within a tranquil wooded environment featuring a beautiful sandy beach. Wake up to gorgeous sunrise views over West Grand Traverse Bay and the sound of the water gently lapping the shore. This private, quiet area is a great place to get away. East Beach Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There are beds for 8, but up to 10 people are allowed.

The home has a wood-burning fireplace and DVD player but no Internet access. Grill out on the deck and enjoy the beach area. In Omena, enjoy a tasting at a local winery, visit local art galleries, or collect rocks on the bay. The home is located between Northport and Suttons Bay. Traverse City is 35 minutes away.

A well-mannered pet is allowed, but the owner must clean up after it.

Amazing getaway!
This was an excellent rental for our large family! The beach and lake were stunning, the house was spacious and clean, and the communication was great! There are a couple condition issues, but nothing that takes away from the enjoyment. We would absolutely stay here again! I do wish that the screens on the windows were all in place, and that the balcony door wasn't screwed shut, as it got REALLY HOT for the kids upstairs without air conditioning and the ability to open windows. Overall, this was the perfect vacation for us!!

Great location, property could use some attention.
The location is great, the beach is excellent. We barely saw another person on the beach. It was like we had the entire stretch of beach to ourself. If there was some attention to the home to clean up a few things it would simply be a great place. Better beds, a better couch, a nice spot to clean off sandy feet. All simple upgrades that would make me want to come back. Unfortunately we will look elsewhere for next years trip.

Location and beach access are both amazing… Privacy is amazing - beds are comfortable The house it’s self needs some updates! We stayed here last year and the toilet had the same leak as it did a year ago. Wallpaper’s peeling, furniture is old and musty smelling, the stove works, but definitely takes a little longer to cook things. You get what you pay for. Not bad … just not great!

We used cooking utensils and thoroughly cleaned when we were done just as the agreement states. But there were some people who did not clean when they were done. If that happens I think the cleaning service should still not leave dirty utensils.

Beautiful location - house NEEDS updating

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The good: Very beautiful and private location, the size of the house was adequate to our needs. The bad: Bugs and cleaning cobwebs. The first impression was of spiderwebs everywhere outside and carpenter ants throughout the house. The exterior really needs work. The house really needs to be updated, repaired and painted/stained inside and out. We called the management company and they did address the ceiling lights that were out and the carpenter ants (there were fewer ants by the time we left) however they didn’t communicate after our stay when I sent them a long email addressing our concerns for the property for future guests. I hope this review is helpful.

The home is tucked into the woods and has a private secluded feel even though the neighbors are fairly close and it’s only 5 minutes the Leelaunau cellars tasting room! The home it self was spotless inside very well cleaned and kept , the home does have a moldy smell so I would take caution if traveling with anyone with respiratory sensitivity.Overall it’s a very reasonably priced rental with an AMAZING beach! It was a great stay for me and my family.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The management company is great to work with. This is the second time we have rented through them and they are top notch. The rental location is wonderful. Private beach, on the bay, beautiful scenery. We loved the deck and spent a lot of our outside time there. Plenty of seating and wonderful pleasant view of the beach. The house itself was functional, but it definitely needs some work to make it feel more welcoming and comfortable. Beds were nice, bathrooms clean overall. We loved the “mud room” at the entrance to the house, especially for our dog! The fluorescent lights in the kitchen took about 5 minutes to warm up and the panel covering the lights over the sink is missing. Some of the windows opened, and some we kept closed because of the amount of dead bugs in the tracks and frames. We had the fans in every room going as a result. We did appreciate the vinegar and dish soap that someone left because the gnats were crazy in the house. It’s not the fault of the company or the house itself but it was very frustrating to have so many gnats in the house all the time. We enjoyed ourselves, and would rent from the company again, but probably not this place. I think a few updates could make this cottage great.

Not worth the money- poor preparation
Arrived to the property and there was tissue and juice bottle on the living floor, which I did reviews and also seen there’s a clause were there isn’t any refunds for housekeeping. The deck had a big hole big enough for my grandsons leg to fall through. Let’s not mention there was no water so I called and they seemed as though they were funding every reason not to come out. She eventually walked me through flipping the breaker. When I mentioned the heat wasn’t working she corrected me in saying that the heat did work. It took an entire day to drain the lines there was brown water running s long time. The next afternoon a maintenance man came and said the owner didn’t know it was rented and the heat was turned off. He was nice enough to get the heat working. Definitely won’t rent with this company again. Too many inconveniences, they need to prepare for the homes being ready prior to someone booking.

Reviewer Comments: We had a great time at East Beach Retreat, largely due to the amazing beach and convenient location. The combination of shady deck/yard and sunny beach was very cool. The house itself had several issues that made our stay less than comfortable, including extremely foul-smelling water (it got better after we ran down the hot water tank and let it refill, but by then the while home reeked), a malfunction with the oven that made it buzz loudly for over an hour, and a broken sliding screen door and missing window screens which made it hard to keep the home cool. Also, there are 2 king beds and one queen, not 3 king beds as listed. Be aware there is no WIFI, and the home is equipped only with one small TV and a VHS player. We enjoyed "unplugging" but this was still a bit of a surprise. Overall the home was old and worn but clean - however the hide-a-bed was filthy and had debris inside.I hope management will address the issues we reported so we can recommend and revisit this home without concern.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful location, but place needs a lot of work and attention to small details to make it worth the money. Would advise paying a little more and getting a nicer place. - Very musty. Would have been ok had we been able to open all the windows and get some fresh lake air coming through, but not all windows had screens.- I highly doubt any extra cleaning precautions were taken like they claim - The place was very dusty and old dog hair hiding in corners and under chairs. Looks like they did a quick sweep without moving any furniture or chairs. - Pictures need to be updated. There is no large beach area and fire pit like is shown - you will have a nice little sandy spot with some chairs, but due to high water, much smaller than what they are showing. Will give kudos for the paddle board. No gas grill like in the picture. - You will get 1 roll of paper towel, no kitchen towels, and no oven mits. Would advise to bring your own kitchen supplies.For over $300 a night, this was a disappointing stay. Maybe we just had bad luck, but got the impression the owner does not care about making this a welcoming experience for their guests and doubt the rental agency has visited in a while.

Peaceful retreat
The house was a perfect getaway. It's a super quiet and peaceful area. My favorite part was having my coffee on the beach every morning. The house itself is a little outdated but everything is fully functional. There's enough space for everyone to stay comfortably and not be on top of each other. We were able to be secluded in a bedroom if needed and all hangout together in the livong spaces when we wanted to. I especially loved the locking gate on the deck stairs so we could hangout on the deck with my 10 month old and she could safely crawl around and play while the adults chatted. The beach is perfect for swimming or wading, nice and calm and shallow, although it was too cold to swim while we were there. I'm glad we stayed when it was a little cooler, as the people upstairs said it did get hot without any air conditioning but we were able to get a nice breeze by opening all of the windows. I would recommend this location and we will be likely staying again.
