Disappointing
I absolutely hate giving bad reviews. I know that hosts, managers, and properties do their best to give us our best experience. Traveling as much as I do, the least I expect is comfort and convenience. Unfortunately, this particular experience was disappointing in just about every way a property can be. With the exception of the host’s responsiveness, willingness to let us check in early and convenience/proximity to
I-44 and our wkend events, the property did not meet even the most basic expectations. If I had it to do over, I would have contacted the management co./host the moment we arrived, and were overwhelmed by the musty smell, lack of sidewalk for safe entry for my 80 y.o. mother, general uncleanliness, lack of a few kitchen and much needed laundry items, broken toilet seat, etc. but our schedule was tight and we really didn’t have time to make any changes to our reservation.
The host assures me that had I reached out with my concerns, the moment I arrived, she would have been able to relocate me to one of her other properties. I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt. It may also be true that the mgmt co. has little control over renters following the rules, but even if I hadn’t discovered that I had been sleeping on a mattress saturated with what smelled like puppy pee, in a VRBO that doesn’t allow pets, I believe mom and I would still have been largely disappointed.
