NEW! Secluded & Cozy Gold Creek Cabin Fire-pit / ATV & Hiking Trails / Gameroom

Discover tranquility at our charming cabin near Ohio City, nestled amidst picturesque aspen trees. The allure begins with a captivating wraparound porch to savor breathtaking views. Enjoy multiple ATV and hiking trails, a crackling fireplace or outdoor fire pit for cozy evenings under the stars. Or the game room featuring ping pong and foosball. Spacious and secluded, this cabin is your private escape into serenity, inviting you to unwind and connect with the beauty of Gunnison County.

The space:
Welcome to this hidden cabin along Gold Creek, tucked away close to Ohio City, where your mountain escape is waiting. Climb the stairs to the wrap-around porch which makes this a tree house experience. (The porch has rails, but no guards protecting little ones, please be mindful of this.) Walk into this cabin settled snuggly into the Aspen grove all around. You can sit around the fireplace enjoying the warmth while soaking in the calm of the mountains. The main floor is where you will spend your time with family and friends, or sneak away into the garage for some loud playing around the foosball and ping pong tables. All four bedrooms are upstairs with two of the three bathrooms. This is the perfect escape into the mountains for hunting, ATV, and all mountain adventures you desire! The firepit and picnic table are perfect for relaxing and listening to the quaking Aspens outside. No Cell Service/Wi-Fi only, truly escaping into the mountains!

This cabin is surrounded on all sides by Gunnison National Forest, there's a forest service road next to the property that gives you a 2+ mile hike right outside the doorstep through aspen and pine forests, through an abandoned mining town, and over the ridge to overlook Pitkin. Please do not use ATVs up this road or block it as it does lead to private residences. There's a beaver pond on the other side of the forest service road to the left of the property that has trout fishing and it is what feeds the creek that runs through the property. There is also an extensive trail system throughout the valley with Cambell town which is a larger abandoned mining town, as well as the Gold creek campground 5 miles farther along CR771 that has trails that go all along the ridgeline, 3 different natural alpine lakes for fishing, and ATV trails that go all the way to Crested Butte. It's a 30 min drive to Gunnison, 45 min (ish) drive to Crested Butte and 1 hour drive to Monarch Pass. There's multiple 14'rs to go hike within a 2 hour drive.

Unexpected beauty
The house is surrounded by natural unaltered mountain beauty. Every window looks out on a scene as if it were a painting. The atmosphere is very peaceful and quiet. The decor of the house is tasteful and lovely. The kitchen had every utensil I needed and very good quality knives herbs spices and extra of all the parts that I need when I am cooking and creating. The sofas the overstuffed chair the throws were super comfortable. The bed mattress pillows and linens were also very comfortable. The Wi-Fi was good and strong. We mostly enjoyed being able to step off the deck and just start walking up the mountain road which is right next to the property. I caught a lot of brown trout in the creek. We took long drives every day up four-wheel drive trails in our 4runner. My husband also rode his e-bike on some of these trails. We never ran into another person. We really love this property.

Amazing host, awesome place!!
What a great place to stay to explore the gunnison forest area! Cabin was very secluded and quiet. Host was very responsive! I used Waze as my gps it was a bit off another mile down the road if your using the same. But I’ll definitely be returning next year so please don’t book it all up before I do!! 😂

Beds were horrible, no one got any sleep
All the beds were horrible, no one got any sleep, I slept on the couch after the first night, and still couldn’t sleep. Had a bear break into my brothers car..

Short but sweet
We had a great time in the area. So much to do and not enough time. The cabin was secluded and cozy. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Would like to try to stay again.

Make sure to arrive in the day light to see the parking is limited and take all of the food or snacks out of your vehicles and lock them up at night. There is a local Bear that knows how to open unlocked car doors. The house was very nice and clean.

A Great Property
We were all blown away how nice the house was and how fully furnished and stocked it was. The pictures don't do it justice. If i could give it 6 stars I would. The only negative we had about the place; we didn't stay longer.

2024 Vacation
The cabin was beautiful and very well decorated. The little extras around the house made it very cozy! Sitting on the deck and enjoying the outdoors was very peaceful. I would definitely recommend this place for your next get away. The only complaint was the grass was overgrown so we did not get to enjoy the fire pit, grill, and picnic table.

Beautiful & Peaceful
This wonderful cabin allows you to enjoy the beauty of the nature surrounding it while providing all the comforts of home. They provide everything you need including incredible views of the mountains. The owner is excellent at communicating and has done a wonderful job preparing this vrbo for guests. Kitchen is stock with all you need to prepare meals and spaces both inside and out that allow you to enjoy your surroundings at all times. We got to witness an abundance of wildlife while staying there including marmots right beside the deck and a fox that greeted us on the deck. Hiking literally right next door and sounds of nature to soothe you to sleep. We loved the windows which crank open easily and allow for little use of ac and much mountain air. They also provide many helpful books about the area. Our family greatly enjoyed the geology of Gunnison County. Just a wonderful stay and above highly recommended.

Our favorite family getaway
This house in the mountains was simply amazing. Our kids squealed with delight (literally) when we entered the house for the first time. Our family (my wife and five kids ages 10-18) was stunned with the beauty of the surroundings as well as the home-y and beautiful feel of the property. The house was full of everything we needed from, a great, big, stocked kitchen, blankets, big soft welcoming beds, to a ping-pong table and foosball. We spent a lot of time just relaxing in the house. We also loved, loved the outdoors! Right outside the house were several places that we hiked. We had fun climbing the mountain just across the road, we hiked up a little trail behind the house. And next to the house was a trail that we also hiked. Each morning my wife and I also took walks down the road. We all got to see big horn sheep, deer, and chipmunks. Just a little bit down the road a stretch it was fun to check out the small hamlet of Ohio city. We also enjoyed visiting Pitkin just down the road, with old homes and a couple local restaurants and shops. The Stumbling Moose was a great stop for hand-scooped ice cream. People are so friendly and welcoming. We had lots of great conversations. We were surprised how close it was to reach Crested Butte as well as Curecanti national recreation area. The host was great at communication and easy to get a hold of. They quickly answered questions that we had and gave recommendations for nearby activities. We HIGHLY recommend staying here!
