The Charter House formally known as The Charter Room. A 3 bedroom house for rent

Cozy three bedroom house. This use to be an apartment is attached to our family home in Ocracoke, but we have moved out and opened the entire house. The part designed as a mother-in-law suite has a queen size bed(sheets are not provided) and a roll out single cot. Cable TV 32 inch flat screen and wireless internet in the master suite. Small eating table in the front room and a full bathroom with a large outdoor shower. You even have your own deck. The main part of the house is accessible through the laundry room. The main part of the house has an open floor plan and two bedrooms and a bathroom. Pets are allowed for an additional $50. If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30 pm and check out time is 11:00. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there, it is not us renting it. We only go through VRBO/Home Away.

We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues, or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance.

Great little spot.
Tucked away but still close to everything. We loved it, and it came with Noodles, a delightful dog who came to visit at least every morning for kisses and butt-rubs :) Recommend.

Awesome Island Hideaway
Perfect place for our annual father-daughter spring break adventure. Everything worth doing/buying/eating/drinking is within walking distance and the house was just the right size for us. Very quaint. Had everything we needed! Thanks!

Quaint & Cozy
We love Ocracoke, been on and off for many years! The Charter Room had all the amenities we needed. Golf cart rental through the place was also an easy process, and we enjoyed the usage. On a quiet street just off the main area of the village. Close to everything. The rooms were very neat and the cleanliness was outstanding. Thanks for having us!

Island get away
Cute place. Cozy calm and quite my fav things on a vacation. They bathroom is big and nice and the outside shower is great .. it’s big and completely private. We enjoyed it very much.

Fantastic location and stay
Ellen and Russ met us when we arrived and made sure we could access the rental. And we were warmly greeted by their dog, noodles. Ellen made us feel like long lost neighbors that were reunited. It made for a wonderful weekend. The rental has alit of charm and comfort.

Great for one or two people and a small child. Had everything I needed, plus. Very comfortable bedroom. New AC worked great. The owners were very responsive. And they have golf carts on site for rent. I would gladly rent at this property again.

The place was cute, the neighbors were friendly, and the island was perfect. We needed to get toilet paper because there was none left when we arrived and the rooms did smell like mildew at first.

Great Music Festival weekend
We were very pleased with the property especially because it was so close to the Festival grounds. It was a very cute efficiency with everything we needed for the weekend. We would have preferred not to have to bring our own linens because of the hassle but certainly not a deal breaker. It was quiet and easily accessible.

Such a charming stay and exceptional hospitality with the owner
The apartment was perfect and CLEAN! The bed was nice and comfortable. The kitchen was all we needed. The bathroom had plenty of space and I love that there was plenty of room. It was walking distance to the harbor so perfect for bikes and golf cart! We will definitely be back ❤️

Great Stay
The room is great. Its just enough for my husband and myself. We enjoy it so much that we make sure to schedule our next trip earlier than normal. The Grants are the best!! You'll never find anyone like them. I make a point to clean the house before we leave as i know how busy they are. We have always been very considerate.

Small but great
This apartment is small. Three people max. Probably is ideal for a couple without kids. That said, this place was perfect for us, and the proprietors are great to interact with. I stayed with two teen boys and it was perfect for us. Also, the place is actually a little bigger than the photos make it seem. At least, it felt bigger than what I was expecting. I will definitely stay there again.

Very fun
We had a great time on Ocracoke. Ellen and Russ are fun and easy to work with. Very accommodating ant time we contacted them. We rented their golf cart and rode all over the village. Bought souvenirs at one end of town and watched sunsets at the other. Checked out the historic spots..All with the golf cart I hope I get to stay with them again some time.

Great place for two old folks like my wife and myself, it was somewhat better than we thought it would be. Nice to be able to drive around it rather than back out onto a busy little road with all the golf carts and bikes. very clean when we arrived, tried to leave it the same. all in all 5 stars

My husband and and I would have stayed here again for a long weekend until our last two nights lead to little sleep due to very loud yelling and arguing with whom ever was staying in attached home (listing states owners live there). Our poor dogs who are very laid back where even worried..

Small but sufficient
Consider the location closer to a studio or hotel set up, as it has minimal "living" space. The furniture consists of a queen size bed and a few chairs. Nice but could use some updates. As noted by the owners - bring your own towels and sheets. I strongly suggest pillows as well. The owners are very accommodating and readily available if there are any issues. Great rental for a couple or small family (we had a pack and play fit nicely)! Thanks to the Grants for assisting in a great weekend.

2-3 Star Vacation Home
The house is convenient to everything on Ocracoke and the check-in process was very easy. Never had any problems over all, except for a few cleanliness issues. I already knew going in that the house was cleaned by the previous vacationers, as the same would be for the people staying after me. These problems were not raised to the owner, as I only stayed 2 nights and didn’t see that it was worth it. The shower curtain had mildew on it and there were several small bugs in the bathroom over the duration of my stay.
