"They fixed the bathtub’s drain that wasn’t working properly without us even telling them, extreme attention to detail! The garden was very beautiful 😁 nice decoration to walk around. The lights on the trees gave it a very christmassy vibe and there were many nice places to take pictures. The breakfast buffet was amazing with lots of choices and great quality. The staff were kind. The extra bed was quite uncomfortable though. There was no live tv. The internet speed was horrible and only exclusive to our room. Despite all that, we had a wonderful time here!"

"A wonderful ryokan stay with exceptional Kaiseki dinner, with dinner served in our room. Kaiseki was mostly made with produce well known in the prefecture, made with a lot of care and was so delicious. Breakfast was buffet style, which was a mix of Japanese and continental - nothing exceptional, but still decent! Especially important to be able to converse in some basic Japanese here, however they do have a few talented young staff (ours was Inoue-san) who are able to converse in decent English during dinner and made our stay especially memorable. My partner is not Japanese speaking, and she insisted she would try her best to speak in English so I wouldn’t need to always translate.The staff were also kind and helpful in general. The onsen in the room was lovely and private enough the despite the ryokan not being far from a road. The massage chair was an added bonus for cold and stiff muscles. Room was clean, spacious and very quaint - will certainly come back! "

"Location - there is a pick up service from jr nakuro onsen station. You need to notify the hotel in advance for the pick up service. Staff- they are very nice. I got off at the wrong jr station. The next train will be an hour later but the hotel staff was already at the station waiting for me. I was very lucky to get some assistance from a local gentleman. He called the hotel and the hotel staff drive to my station and picked me up. I also asked the reception about the transport to naruko valley. The staff helped me check the transport arrangements. I was very lucky to ask the staff coz the google map info was wrong. Room - very spacious. You have all the amenities. The onsen is great. Fining - dinner and breakfast were just great. I was offered a lot of delicious local ingredients. It is a very good valued for money onsen hotel. I will def come back if I go to nakuro onsen again. "

"The Takinoyu Hotel was superb! It was larger than I thought and very luxurious feeling. We booked one of their more traditional rooms which was very spaceous and the view of the garden was lovely. We didn't have time to visit their baths but they looked very nice. The staff were great also, very friendly and helpful! Overall excellent hotel, would definitely stay here again! "

"Staff are very polite and helpful. Best part is the hotel is only 5 mins from JR Yamagata station, very convenient. There is also a bus terminal at the train station with buses to various attractions like Zao onsen etc. Only down part is the pillow was very flat, hence not comfortable to sleep on."
