Cute rustic house.
The house was full of charm and very relaxing. Could use a good deep clean and new living room furniture. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and had a quiet relaxing weekend with friends.

Great location- needs deep clean
Location on the lake is fantastic, house is charming, responsiveness of owners to whole in ceiling and insulation on floor was nonexistent. Mold/mildew in shower and washer. Tub drain barely worked.

Perfect location
Great location, lakefront with private dock. Carpet in bedroom should be removed. Plenty of stains. Better lighting inside would be helpful. Bedrooms very dark with lamps provided.

Fairytale cottage
Cabin was a bit outdated but I think that's what gives it its charm. It reminded us of a small fairytale cottage. The kitchen specifially called to the inner witch in me. We will definately be making use of this cabin again next fall. I can just imagine how cozy it would be when it snows.

Needs MAJOR updates but lovely location
This rental is in CRITICAL need of help - the microwave was melted and unusable and there is black mold on the kitchen countertops - both are significant safety hazards that were not addressed. The furniture (couch, chairs and beds) are ALL EXTEMELY uncomfortable and need immediately replaced. This place is in a FABULOUS location but needs soooooooooooooo much TLC.

Our stay at Great Escape.
Three ladies rented this property for a girls weekend and to kayak on the lake. When we walked in the house, the smell of mildew was so strong, we immediately opened every window we could open. After that, we set out to sweep off all the patios as they were covered in pine needles. Looked like they hadn't been sweep in weeks. The house itself is very charming and the location is great. But the entire house is desperately in need of a good deep cleaning. We read some of the previous reviews so we came prepared with clean sheets and throws to put over the living room furniture so we had clean surfaces to sit on. Would recommend anyone renting this property to do the same. Bottom line here is the house really needs immediate attention from the property owner.

Great location
Wild life all around, nice view of the lake and close to several towns. The fall foliage was outstanding. What attracted me to the property was the architecture of the dwelling. I was involved in construction my entire life and now retired. Enjoying this beautiful structure was fun and relaxing. Very interesting build. The home is in need of TLC but what a great cabin it all started with. Thanks

Quaint, cozy log cabin directly on the cove. Amazing views and water access. Floating dock was going back in the water as we were leaving on 4/10/23. Cabin is very welcoming with charm galore. Showing its age a bit with some soft spots in the floor of the master bath and some other deferred maintenance evident. All in all, a great place to spend some downtime at the lake.

Relaxing stay with a great view of the lake.
We went to this cabin/house as a retreat just to relax and read. We got to do that! The house is as pictured but with a few cobwebs around and the windows are in desperate need of washing (so as not to obstruct the view). The big bedroom was a little cold compared to the rest of the house. The fireplace in the living room was a bonus as we like a "live" fire. Firewood was easy to obtain in the area. Overall, we my wife and I had a good, relaxing time. Would go back to this place again.

The location is really amazing, house is as pictured in the photos. It is very charming but very dated. Unfortunately we did not sleep in the master bedroom (green carpeted room) because the urine smell was overpowering. This house is beyond charming but really needs to be decluttered and new light bulbs put in the various lamps.

The house had such potential but needs new carpet and several repairs. We had hot water only for 1 shower, no ice, and calls for assistance were met with sympathy. Such a disappointment.

Snowy March Weekend!
Great location! Lakefront...beautiful views. Comfortable large cabin with 2 fireplaces. During our stay I needed to call the management to fix the furnace. HVAC repairman responded in less than an hour and fixed the heat in a few hours. Kitchen lacks a proper set of usable pots and pans. Some kitchen chairs had nails sticking out of them. In general cabin with a small investment could be a top notch rental.

Family Thanksgiving Vacation
House was dirty and there was mouse crap all over the house and even had a mouse run by my foot while I was in the bathroom. Had rolls on the counter and the mice ate them so had to leave the food out in the truck. Called to complain and they only refunded us the cleaning fee for our inconvenience. We would not recommend this property if you are concerned with a clean dust free house and even sent countless pictures to the rental company

Gromes Getaway weekend
The scenery was breathtaking. We caught 3 perch off the dock. The cabin with its wooden beams was beautiful. The couch was a good size just needs replaced. The hot water was great. I think all the bedding and blankets and pillows need replaced. This cabin has so much potential if things were updated and replaced. Thank you for lending us your home we had a great weekend. One more thing I didn’t see mice but I did see their droppings. Rachel Gromes

One of the toilets ran constantly, one of the showers did not have any water, and the curtain rod in the master bathroom was broken so there was no curtain there at all. The cabin was 49 degrees when we arrived and the furnace wasn't fixed for about 4 hours. It caught fire the next morning! Your property manager Jay was most responsive and helpful throughout our abbreviated stay.

looks good inn the pictures
nice location, beautiful views. Loved the quirky log cabin feel but the place has not been looked after for many years. Sheets, towels and beds were clean but the rest of the place had a fair layer of dust and grim. Kitchen was adequately stocked but pots, pans and utensils are old, broken and mismatched. Refrigerator constantly leaked all over the kitchen floor. Tried to use the gas grill and it was so rotten the bottom feel out almost starting a fire on the porch. Dim lighting and missing lightbulbs. Mold and mildew in the shower. A/C is inoperable and looks like it has been for awhile. With all that being said, if some one put $30,000 in to upkeep/remodeling, I would stay there again. I guess you get what you pay for

Great Feep Creek Cabin on the Lake
This was an amazing cabin on a great cove . We loved our quiet winter stay and had the fire roaring the whole time. It can use a lot of fixes or updates needed. The roof leaked on the living room couch during a rain storm and also in our shower. The dishwasher and oven weren’t working 100%. The inside grill and ice machine don’t work. The master bedroom rug could use changing as it has stains everywhere and the couch in the living room is old and sinks in. Lots of the outlets don’t work and there was mouse poop on the mantle. The flu in the fireplace doesn’t close but that didn’t affect anything. These are all minor fixes and didn’t affect the fun we had. It could use an actual fire pit but that’s just preference. Just suggestions roof leaking and appliances most immediate just might be helpful. Really did love our stay though. Such a great log cabin with perfect area on lake

Beautiful property and home, very clean, great for families and entertaining, great location!
First impression was WOW! Such a cool house with fantastic space and architecture. Kitchen was fully equipped except the knife selection needs some work for those that love to cook. I would recommend leaving more dishwashing pods also for those who love to cook for their families. Now, let’s talk beds: the mattresses need a serious update and the pillows need to be thrown out and replaced as well. The linens and towels were excellent and clean. I would also recommend leaving checkout instructions, especially for first time VRBOers. We didn’t really know what to do so we just left it as we found it, minus the trash bags and dishwasher pods we used. The last thing I’d suggest doing is considering replacing the TV’s with larger ones and at least providing smart DVD players. In the technology age it should be considered. The majority of the time is family time out and about but movie watching would be fun too and we had to go buy a ROKU to accomplish this. Thank you for an excellent vacation! I’d love to come back and bring more family!

Camp Bachelorette
We came for a relaxing bachelorette weekend for my sister. The house was perfect for our needs and the private dock to swim off was great! The lake is closer than it looks in the pictures of the home which was a great surprise. We had a great time in this rustic cabin! Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend at the lake!

Loved staying at Great Escape
After reading some bad reviews about this place we were a little worried but I’m happy to say we were pleasantly surprised when we got there. What a cool old house this is! We found it to be very clean, plenty of room, and a great spot on the lake. They should update their photos of the master bedroom and the bathroom connected to it. There’s beautiful hardwood floor in the bedroom, and the bathroom is completely remodeled. The house is old and not everything is in perfect condition, but that’s what gives it its charm. The dock could use some work, but it was still fine for keeping are boat at. The location on the lake may be the best we have ever stayed at. If you’re looking for a five star resort, this may not be the place for you. However if you’re looking for a charming home with plenty of room inside and out and on one of the best spots on the lake, Great Escape is worth looking into. We will definitely be considering it for a future trip to Deep Creek.
