We stayed at UC for 2 nights with our 15 month old son. The entrance, welcoming and staff all make a great impression, the hospitality and customer service promise a 5-star experience. Probably our biggest mistake was to go for the attic room, which doesn’t stand a comparison to the other rooms - it’s old, dated, the carpet on the floor seems rather dirty. What bothered us most though, was the number of loose, sharp or otherwise dangerous objects. I appreciate that hotel rooms aren’t child-proof, but this one was simply one big toddler trap. Our son badly hurt his head in the bathroom, later the fan collapsed over him, he also got a bad rash from the bed sheets (they smelled heavily with softener)… no need to go into further detail, I wouldn’t complain if the room cost half the price but at the given price I consider it quite a rip off. Our friends stayed in the area at the same time for 25% of our rate and had very similar conditions in the room. The plumbing in our bathroom seemed very old too, using the sink generated noises from the toiled. Admittedly, the bed was very comfortable though. It’s a 10 min walk to the main street and most bars/shops. The WiFi was OK, the breakfast was lovely and staff went out of their way to please the Guests, but for us this definitely isn’t going to be a nice memory and the bill leaves a very bad aftertaste.
