We had an amazing stay at Assembly house. Fantastic huge room with a separate lounge area and massive bathroom. It was a real luxury hotel. Also the breakfast and afternoon tea we had were superb as well. Excellent. Will go back
Lovely room, with lots of nice touches and little extras.
Staff were great from the moment we checked in, breakfast was really good and the service was excellent and very friendly.
Location was perfect for exploring the city.
We have stayed here in a couple of different rooms. Both were excellent. The bathroom is clean and comfortable. Bed is amazing! There is a lovely man at breakfast - didn’t get his name - who remembers us and our orders. A perfect stay.
The Assembly House is absolutely amazing. Wonderful staff. It is very central and right next to the concert hall. The room is extremely spacious and comes with its own balcony for just relaxing or having a drink. The bathroom is awesome. Very huge, with a roll top bath, shower with a rain head and heated marble floors. Breakfast is excellent. It is highly recommended and I will be definately be staying there next time.
Attentive cheerful staff. Historic building. Great food. However, book your table in advance as restaurant is often fully booked. Some rooms are only accessible by stair from separate entrance. Also I suggested to staff that additional handrails are needed on stairs to room 10.
We enjoyed our stay at the Assembly House because the room was lovely and the one meal we had there was delicious.
But the service ranged from adequate to nonexistent. When we checked in, the (very) young man who looked after us didn’t seem to know how to handle payment. We said we’d like a table for dinner (we arrived at 8pm) and were told that dinner service ended at 7pm. Seriously. When we asked if there was somewhere nearby to eat, he had no idea. His colleague suggested a place but was unable to describe the food apart from saying it was “like here but more expensive”. Then the man took us to our room, but showed no interest in helping us with our bags.
The staff were all pleasant and well-meaning, but seemed to have no training at all in how to run a hotel. It isn’t really run as a hotel at all, but as a public space and restaurant with some rooms tacked on as an afterthought.
Nice rooms, though.
Full of character and quirkiness. We loved The Assembly House but it could prove difficult to get up the stairs and around the suite for those less mobile. The bed was extremely comfortable and loved the bathroom with fireplace!. The breakfast was excellent with very friendly and informed staff. The breakfast buffet area was stunning. It's not everyday you see chandeliers hanging above the cornflakes! My only criticism was a rattling door in the bedroom which was easily rectified and the views were lacking but the overall style of the hotel and proximity to Norwich city centre and free parking more than made up for that.
