Gaffers Cottage - sleeps 12 guests in 5 bedrooms

Gaffers cottage has been upgraded over the years and still retains many of the original features, character and charm with exposed beams, brickwork and wall ties.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with a range cooker and a breakfast area that opens into a generous dining room. The living room opens onto a sunny patio. Our large garden is bounded and divided by old walls and railings into three distinct areas with BBQ, lawns, courtyard and play areas. This property is ideal for a large family or group of friends to enjoy time away to relax and unwind or enjoy a special occasion.

Another great stay
Beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Lovely countryside setting whilst still being very close to Norwich. Friendly and helpful owners who answer every communication promptly. This is our 3rd year at Gaffers and we will be back next year.

Birthday weekend at spixworth
Me and my family stayed at Gaffers to celebrate our mums birthday and we loved it. We’ve stayed at Spixworth cottages a few times before and we always love coming back. The games room is great for the kids, there’s amazing walks to take our dogs on and the house itself is just great and has everything you need. There is always someone on hand to help too if there is ever anything you need. We love it here and we’ll definitely be back.

An English slice of France!
Fantastic family reunion in Gaffers cottage. Something for everyone and such a relaxing place to be. The play barn is great for the kids and there is a modern play park with swings too! We loved the pool too! We will be back!

Wedding Accommodation
I had my wedding here in the last week of June and it couldn't have been more perfect. We hired out all of the cottages and every single one was spotless, comfortable, and charming. They all come fully equipt with easy access to information if you need it. The staff are so kind and welcoming too. 10/10 stay, 10/10 wedding location.

The accommodation was very clean and although generally comfortable although the beds could do with being a bit larger, especially the family room doubles…Jack and Sheila were fantastic hosts, catering for all our needs and requests. The whole site, with the games room barn was great. We used the barn for line dancing which was ideal.

A wonderful wedding week
Jack, Sheelah and the whole team at Spixworth Cottages were so helpful throughout our entire stay. We feel so lucky to have found the perfect venue for our wedding and to have had all our friends and family stay on site with us. Lovely family time
I’ve booked two cottages gaffers and the granary. This was for my sons wedding where all the family could stay. Is there any wool gaffers is the 16th century building which has been converted into a large cottage. It was the ideal place for us all to stay. We felt very at home and comfortable. Sheila and Jack could not have been more helpful and kinder. Definitely recommend to a large family or group. The swimming pool (please don’t change it) was brilliant like going back in time and the fact that you can book slots was great. Thank you so much

Gaffers Cottage
We all very much enjoyed our stay at Gaffers Cottage. Location is great both logistically and within the grounds of Spixworth Hall. The staff and service were very friendly and always helpful. The swimming pool was great! For an outdoor pool, it was always a very good temperature & very well maintained. Our brother-in-law also hugely enjoyed the private fishing lake. Our (very minor) areas of improvement would be some of the plants/trees within the garden could do with cutting back, particularly by the back gate. The garden furniture could perhaps be updated at some point as some family members struggled a bit with the chairs. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience & we would definitely return in the near future.

Group booking
We booked 4 cottages, all were clean and had everything we needed. We used the gashes room which was brilliant for the group being able to spend time together. Hosts were really accommodating and we all had a great time.

Home from home
A wonderful beautiful cottage. Rented 4 cottages for all 26 family members for my partners 50th. Something for all ages to do on site and staff were very helpful with all of our needs. Would definitely stay again.

A Fabulous Stay at Gaffers Cottage
Our family of 10 adults & 5 small children had a fantastic stay at Gaffers Cottage over the Easter break. The place was clean & well-equipped with a brand new kitchen including a great range oven that was ideal for our large family meals. The children absolutely loved the play barn and we spent a lot of time in there as well as doing some lovely walks in the surrounding fields and wooded areas. It’s an ideal location close to Norwich & great for exploring the Norfolk Broads. We loved it so much we are returning next Easter. Thanks to the Spixworth Hall Cottages team for your hospitality & a wonderful stay.

A lovely place to stay
We enjoyed a lovely week in Gaffers Cottage with lots of walks for us and our dog - with a handy poo bin. Luckily not all of our party of ten could be with us all of the time so there was some 'coming and going' which enabled us to spread out a little, otherwise the kitchen space would have been somewhat congested. The pool was ideal, although a shower on site would have been good..

Perfect spot for family reunion
The location of this property is perfect for visiting the coast, the Norfolk Broads and Norwich. It is set in the middle of a farm and whilst there are several holiday cottages we barely saw another person. You feel like you are lord of the manner in the middle of nowhere. The only noise is the tweet of the birds! We stayed here with extended family for a reunion and the Gaffers was perfect enough space for 4 families, grandparents, children, grandchildren and dogs! We had everything we needed; a well stocked kitchen, cosy lounge and bedrooms, enough bathrooms with excellent showers (and a bath). Access to stunning gardens, a bbq, outdoor seating, playground, swimming pool AND a tennis court! The owners were friendly and welcoming but left us to ourselves. The place wasn’t full of rules and regulations, it felt so relaxing! And they even arranged stunning weather for us! Perfect!
