"The place looks a bit drab from the outside but inside we had a warm welcome from Mary and Lynn and very much enjoyed the cosy bar and restaurant. The rooms were comfortable and warm, the latter an important consideration given that we were hiking and getting wet! "

"From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we had nothing but friendly attentive service from the staff at the pub. We were fortunate to be upgraded from a room in the pub to one of the relatively new lodges. The lodge was immaculate on arrival and very comfortable and well equipped. We had breakfast included and this was first class with locally sourced food included. We had two evening dinners at the pub and both were excellent from the very varied menu on offer. "

"Nice Inn reached by narrow lanes. Care needed! Good good and drink. Breakfast from 0830 onwards was very tasty and of good quality. Would revisit. Too far to reach Exeter for an 0900 meeting... So if Woking book you meeting a bit later as it is worth the extra drive to this place "

"This was an unscheduled stop on route to Cornwall due to bad weather. What a pleasant surprise, a beautiful old Inn a short distance from the A30. The staff were friendly and helpful, great service a lovely evening meal and an excellent breakfast. We will definitely be returning with hopefully better weather."

"If you are looking to stay in a traditional English Pub, this is the place. Cozy rooms with great washroom facilities. Very clean and comfortable beds. Rooms are equipped with electricity outlets, wifi and tv for those needing it. The pub itself is fantastic with a very well stocked bar. The restaurant serves home cooked meals with a great selection of local produce. From this location you are pretty central to either coast and Dartmoor itself.
