Renovations to this charming one-bedroom, one-bath beachfront cottage, nestled in a tranquil cove in Cayman Kai, have transformed it into both a luxurious romantic hideaway and an authentic Caymanian retreat. Featuring stainless steel appliances, coastal-chic decor, refreshing Caribbean cross-breezes, abundant sunshine, and a lavish king-sized bed with a queen pullout couch, this cottage offers the epitome of comfort and style. And to top it off, it's conveniently located just across from the iconic Rum Point Beach Bar and Restaurant.

At Rum Point, guests can indulge in snorkeling in the crystal-clear shallows, relish Surf & Turf dining right on the beach, sip on freshly stirred cocktails (rum-based, naturally!), rent Waverunners, embark on sailboat excursions, and more. After a day of adventure, retreat to Rum Sands to unwind in elegant surroundings. Situated within an intimate 3-cottage complex on Sand Point Cove, Rum Sands boasts a coastal-chic interior that sets it apart.

A screened-in lanai offers sweeping views of the sandy cove and its lush tropical landscaping, complete with a gentle breeze stirred by a twirling ceiling fan. Two Adirondack chairs just outside the lanai invite you to sit back and watch the sunrise over the cove. Beautifully appointed property
This cottage was even better than we expected. It was a bit hard to find the first time, but it was a great location. It was right across the street from the beach, and just steps away from the bioluminescent bay. The cottage was so charming! It had a fully stocked kitchen (cooking supplies, not food) and even had water bottles in the fridge. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There were plenty of towels, including beach towels. There was also bug spray and sunscreen! There were 2 enclosed porches, which was unexpected, plus sunchairs you can take to the beach, and a cooler. We were very comfortable and happy there. The only tough thing was that it is at least a 45 minute drive into George Town, more if there was traffic. Overall, we were very happy in this cottage. Thank you for a great experience!

Great location
The location of this property is amazing! There is a beach across the street where the snorkeling was fantastic…. Sea turtles, sting ray… parrot fish! We walked every morning through the beautiful neighborhood! A car is a must!! We had a bit of a hiccup with the checkin but it was resolved and the manger was responsive and everything worked out in the end.

Great Location in Rum Point
Right on the end of bioluminescent bay with a very short walk to Rum Point Beach. Having access to a double kayak was great to explore the bay during the day and at night to see the water turn blue while you paddle around. The water in the bay is very shallow, about 4 ft deep. Did not see anyone swimming in it, but kayaking and paddle boarding and deep enough for boats and jet skis to go in and out. Lots of outdoor furniture to enjoy a lazy day near the water. Quiet neighborhood, not a lot of traffic in this area. Well equipped home. Would definitely stay there again. Good communication with the host. Great area to spend a few days. Had good experiences at both the Rum Point and Kaibo restaurants. Note that there are only 2 restaurants in the immediate area so reservations are recommended. A 3rd one is about a 10-15 minute drive. Overall, a nice place to stay and one of the best locations for that area.

Perfect Rum Point location with bioluminescent bay in the backyard!
Really enjoyed our stay here. Nice landscaping and an attractive unit as part of a multiplex. A quiet place for getting away from it all, but very close to the water. This is a nicely-organized place with a bedroom and bathroom up a half-flight, and kitchen/dining/living area that's spacious. Out the back door, there's a lanai with table and chairs for lounging or having a meal (safe from mosquitoes - being next to the little cove off the north bay, there's a lot of mosquitoes, and they provided some mosquito repellent which you want to put on if you're going to be in the area for any length of time). Kitchen has all the basics, and you have a lot of dinnerware. Baking might be a little challenge, but enough pots and pans to cook meals. Full-sized micro, fridge, oven/stove, garbage disposal sink, and a small but quite effective dishwasher. A/C works great. There are automatic metal shutters on the back windows (from the LR and BR) - just push a button on the remote to close/open them as needed. Nice way to lock up and block out some light for nighttime. W/D worked great, too, so you don't have. to pack as many clothes for your trip! They had a kayak for your use in the backyard (life vests and chairs in the lanai) and you could just drag it out to the shore off your backyard to launch. Across the street is Rum Point, a minute's walk to that beach which faces the northern reef of the island.

Bio bay getaway
This VRBO is right on bioluminescence bay and across the street from the newly renovated Rum Point. Needless to say it is near the main attractions on this side of the island. Nice accommodations for couple or small family. They even have a kayak for you to take a stroll in the bay.

Magnificat!
I have been to the island twice and I chose to stay in this place because it's on bioluminescent bay. The apartment is spacious and well appointed; it had chairs, umbrella, cooler and towels for the beach and everything we needed for the apartment. I would highly recommend staying here if you're comfortable with a quieter way of life and don't want or need all the shops and restaurants. If you're a nerd like I am, the most special thing about this place is bioluminescent bay. Swimming in the bay is a magical experience. I know most people are afraid of the jelly fish (we did get stung but it is very mild) so if you're afraid I definitely recommend using the kayak. I do recommend renting a car while staying here. Will stay here again.

Perfect beach getaway
A beach vacation ticks all the boxes for us if you can see the water, walk in the water without grass and there's a table for eating where you can see the water. This place ticks all the boxes. There's a screened in porch that has a beautiful view of a garden and water. When in the house, you can see the ocean out the front. While there is some sea grass that you have to navigate thru, there is a glorious sand bar that is shallow and is the perfect place to float and drink you floaty time drinks. On Sunday, the sand bar populates with boats and you can enjoy a big party. It was a lot of fun. Jennifer and Gerald are great hosts. There were always available to answer questions. Their friendly and caring attitude made the stay more like staying with family. We would love to return. Rum Point is one of our favorite beach locations. Rum Sands is a great place for a couple looking for a beach getaway!

Second time renting in this complex of 3 units. Location suits us as we are very active swimming, snorkeling and paddling. Didn't use (or seek) bikes this trip Jennifer, our hostess, was most pleasant and responsive, especially when we had an issue with the initial kayak that came with the rental. Within a very short time there was a new boat delivered allowing us an extended trip out through the Bioluminescent Bay to North Sound and back. Being on the BL Bay is always one of the evening delights for us. Snorkeling the Rum Point drift from Cayman Kai beach is as spectacular as ever. If you are a confident swimmer getting out to the reef (about 900 feet offshore at CK beach and a bit further on the way back in to RP beach from the Coral gardens area) is easy enough, but we do recommend a visible float or flag as there are frequently boats in the area. Would highly recommend this place and very much looking forward to a return visit.

We have stayed in this very unit in the past and came back specifically because of how much we enjoyed it. It's a short walk from the very underrated Rum Point Beach and there are some cool activities on this side of the island that are less busy than the more commercial Seven Mile Beach area.

Great getaway spot!
I stayed in the house with my wife and mother. We had a great stay there. The living room had a pull out couch bed and my mom was very comfortable there. Super close to Bio-Luminescent Bay and the ocean. Rum Point Beach was closed at our time of stay but they are planning to rebuild it (hopefully). Great place to stay.

The place was great. The location was great too, close to the marina and walking distance to Rum Point. Highlight was taking the 2 person Kayak out the morning before we left and eating outside at Rum Point. The host checked on us when we arrived and before we left. This was without a doubt the best VRBO rental we have had. Everything was just as it was in the listing and better. Perfect location as well at Rum point. It was wonderful to stay in such a well-maintained facility. Having use of the kayak was great. We look forward to coming back.

Amazing property!
We were nervous about this property because it was a last minute booking due to a hotel mistake. However, it was so much better than the hotel that we had planned in staying at. The management was excellent, the location was ideal, and the property was clean, cozy, and perfect. We will definitely consider this location for future trips.

Basic but functional
​Second time to stay at this location and we use it for the location. It's expensive for what you get. Right on bio bay, across the road from the beach & snorkeling (we see turtles, stingrays, squid, parrot fish and much more) and a 15 minute drive to see the unique Blue Iguanas​ (habitat tour 10am & 11am daily) We know the place so we know to stock up on food, we plan our trips to the West side carefully and we always enjoy ourselves on Cayman. The condo itself is basic, but functional and comfy. Wifi is okay, nice atrium to sit outside, we cook & kitchen is functional (knifes need a sharpen). Nice to have cleaning & paper products provided, only one key for the door is a pain, wonderful shared back area to grill and sit out by the bay, kayak provided and we used it to visit Kaibo and the mangroves as well as bio bay at night. However, at night time, the townhomes along the bay have a pool and why those lights are on past dark - nobody ever swims after dark. Then into our 2nd week, they fix the light on the boat dock - that adds another few lumens of light pollution that shines into your eyes & into the condo. So much for sitting outside enjoying the evening breeze and checking out the stars Seeing notes around the condo to 'save the earth, conserve water' is fine, but if you invest in a shiny TV why not update the toilet to a lo flow version? It'll cost less than the TV. Rum Point itself now has the "Death Star" of condos being built and speaking with some locals development across the island seem to be going crazy.

Location Perfect for us - the admin is what spoiled this trip
Another trip to Cayman. We sponsor a Blue Iguana in the Botanical Park and we went to see her! We've stayed on the bio bay before and the condo was perfect for us 2. The whole week was wonderful, what spoiled it was some mix up between VRBO and the property management company. VRBO claim I booked through the property management company Prop mgt company said I booked through VRBO. I was hit on my credit card for the VRBO booking fee and this time we opted for the travel insurance (I thought) through VRBO. I have disputed both payments through my credit card. I received no travel insurance info. I don't know if VRBO has something mixed up or the property management company is trying to scam me out of $155, the VRBO booking fee, and $91 and change as travel insurance. Not happy. At time of writing the dispute is still open and it spoiled what should have been a perfect get away.
