"Difficult to tell if it is called The Hotel Portas da Amazonas or Acorte. Situated next to the cathedral and near the fort. Within walking distance of Docas (markets water trips and eating) but out of the main city. We were told to take extreme care if out walking at night. Breakfast finished at 9. "The staff were very helpful, friendly and went above and beyond. The hotel does not look at all like the photos. They are very old as the hotel is not updated. The old style tube TV is indicative of the condition of the hotel. Internet did not work in the rooms and worked moderately in the lobby. Location in middle of Cento Market which is great in the day, but unsafe after dark. The hotel entrance is kept locked at all times. We were the only tourists in the 115 room hotel.
