This secluded cottage is on 5 acres with 300 ft of lake front on the very tranquil McQuaby Lake. It is so quiet, you can hear the breeze in the trees during the day and the loons calling to each other at night, and you won’t be disturbed by nearby cottagers. The cottage is bright with great views and only feet away from the lake where there is just a gentle natural slope into the clear water and sandy bottom. It has three good size bedrooms one two piece bathroom and a huge outdoor cedar shower.

- Here are some FAQ. What appliances are in the cottage: A. There is a fridge, induction top stove/oven, Keurig coffee maker, microwave and a propane BBQ outside - we provide a bbq tank and if needed can be refilled locally. Q. Will we need to bring dishes and cutlery? A. No we provide everything you need in the kitchen except consumables. Q. Is the tap water safe to drink? A. No, but we have a water cooler. Bring any standard size water jug. Q. Will linens/towels be provided? A. No. Since Covid we ask that you please bring pillows, and all your own blankets, bed sheets, pillow cases, any bedding, kitchen towels, bath towels, etc. Q. Can we bring our pet? A. Pets are welcome but please be respectful of our cottage, please keep the pet off the furniture and beds, remove and pick up after your dog. Q. Is there a cleaning fee. A. Yes, and the cleaners will take away the garbage and recycling provided they are placed in clear garbage bags, household waste in clear garbage bag(s) and recycling in a separate clear garbage bag(s) Q. Can we smoke in the cottage? A. No, we ask smokers to smoke outside. We are adamant about this request. We ask you to please be respectful of nature and pick up and deposit your cigarette butts into garbage or fire pit. Q. Is there fire wood. A. Yes, we supply the wood, please bring an axe, we don’t provide one because of safety reasons. Q. Is the lake water nice to swim in? A. Yes, it is a beautiful clean lake Q. Is there a shallow area for young children? A. Yes there is a natural sloping rock onto a sanding bottom. Q. Is there good fishing on McQuaby lake? A. No, McQuaby is a very small private lake and is lovely in every other way however fishing is as my husband puts it “slow”, there are other lakes nearby that can be easily accessed. Commanda Lake, Restoule Lake and Lake Nipissing have very good fishing. Q. Should we bring our own life jackets? A. Yes, for your safety, we ask you to bring your own life jackets, as they will fit you properly. Q. We want to bring our own boat up. Is there somewhere nearby where we can launch it? A. Yes, there is a government launch on the lake just the next road past our entrance way. Q. Should we bring our food up with us or buy it up there? A. The town of Powassan is the Hwy exit you will take and the town has a well-stocked grocery store ( Valu-Mart ), so you can either do your grocery shopping there, or bring groceries with you. Also North Bay is ½ hour away but it is past your cut off exit. North Bay has an Independent Grocer, No Frills, Food Basic, Sobeys, FreschCo. and Metro. Q. Do you have a dock A. Yes, we have a floating swim dock. There is a small tire filled with cement holding it in place.
