A very romantic apartment. And a real suntrap thanks to the terrace ! Ideal during the winter as well. Enjoy the Old Town of Nice! No need for a car. Very easy access to airport. Bus stops are 1 min walk. Beach less than 5min. The studio is in the heart of the Old Town. A perfect year-round spot from which to explore the Riviera, the mountains, or simply to stay put in Nice itself. The studio apartment is fully equipped--washing machine, TV, radio, a large bathroom with a tub, a fully equipped kitchen & the terrace which is like another room. Towels & bed linen provided. Please note that depending the season and duration of stay there is charge for electricity (from a week stay), based upon meter reading on check-in and check-out. The studio apartment is on the 2/3 floor of an 18th century building, in a pedestrians street. As often in the old town, no lift in the building. West-facing living room, East-facing bathroom. There’s a very comfortable double bed Dunlopillo. One full-length French windows leads on to a south-west facing terrace (11sq m) which acts as a second living area for much of the year. The studio apartment is very sunny. One can eat outside, overlooking an old Italian palace. Full of character. Ideal all year round.
Painters and art of living: So many things to say about Nice ! To counterbalance any overindulgence, you might like to walk up to the Castle Hill park (one minute from the studio) or take the lift situated off the coast road, and you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view of the Cote d’Azur. Down the other side of the Castle Hill park is the Port with its fishing and pleasure boats, and restaurants. And beyond that again, to the East, there’s a path along the rocks where you can swim and sunbathe away from the bustle of the main beach. Finally, if you’ve still got the stamina and you fancy a bit of culture, there are numerous churches and art galleries/museums: Picasso, Leger, Matisse, Cocteau, Chagall and Dufy all lived and worked on the Cote d’Azur. (The painting of Dufy’s ‘Le mai à Nice’ is of the building next door to me,known locally as ‘La Treille’ because of its gigantic grapevine.) I also recommend the Museum of Asiatic arts, near the airport.
Tram and Piazza Garibaldi: The new Tram is an absolute must! It makes Nice look different, and the same... After all, back in 1953, there was already a Tram. What they have done in 2007 is remarkable. It already belongs to the city. Place Garibaldi (1 minute from my apartment) has also been changed, for the best, I must say. The arcades look even more beautiful. Such a romantic place. This part of Nice is just a masterpiece.
The new Tram line (2) goes from airport to Garibaldi - le Château which is literally 2 minutes from my flat. It will take 25 minutes, which is quite good for a trip from airport to city center.
Bus and email: All bus fares to visit Eze, Monaco, Menton, Cannes, Vence and the villages in the back country are at € 1,5 ! It is the same price in Nice itself, with buses or the beautiful Tram.
If you have a laptop you can catch Wifi at many places for free, or with a special code I have, even for outside.
Do not hesitate to ask me any question about Nice. I've been a resident many, many years, and I still go there as often as possible. You'll also find more details on my website that I update as often as possible.
