This property was great to stay in. It was a house with a lot of character. Was very clean for the most part and the owner was great to deal with as was the property manager. It was extremely close to the main part of town so it was easy to walk wherever you needed to go. We felt we had a lot of privacy in the backyard as well. We definitely stay here again.
The place was exactly as it was advertised.
Excellent location and facilities in the cottage. Anna was very responsive via email. Definitely will stay again.
Walkable to everything! Restaurants, shopping, Lake Ontario. Not far from falls. Worked out great for us! Plenty of space for more people too. Loved this nicely remodeled property.
We made a trip North from Pa for a much needed weekend away. This was our third trip to the NOTL area. This property was so easily centric to everything we wanted to do. We walked everywhere downtown and to the grand Lake O! short drive to wineries, a golf outlet etc. The house was comfortable, charming and everything we needed for a weekend away from it all! We’ll definately be back!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blacksmith's Cottage. The property has been lovingly and tastefully restored, with a lot of attention to detail. The house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. It was an easy walk to all theatres, and to the restaurants and stores on Queen Street. The location is very quiet and the parking space available was just. outside the back garden gate. We would gladly stay there again.
The cottage was spotless. The location was wonderful for the theater, restaurants, and shopping. If you have mobility issues do not rent this. The floor slopes throughout the house. Yes, it is original, but can be difficult for those with mobility issues. The gate needs to be repaired. The code for both the front door and back should be the same. We were only able to go in the back door. The reserved sparking spot was great. The beds were fairly comfortable and the area very quiet.
I stayed here with my sister and her two children (ages 12 and 6) and we could not have been more comfortable. We cooked meals in the perfectly stocked kitchen, watched TV in the lovely living room. Walked to the beautiful downtown and lakeshore in mere minutes. Slept wonderfully in the comfortable beds, and enjoyed long soaks in the fantastic claw foot tub! Seriously this place had it all. Location, amenities, and comfort! I will definitely be back again. I can not recommend this gem of a place to stay enough!
Convenient, clean, and realistically represented property.
Other than the keypad not working consistently, this house was great. House was very clean and we'll supplied. It has nice atmosphere and decoration. Beds we're very comfortable. Bathroom is well laid out-plenty of hot water. Location convenient to walk to all places in old Town. Enjoyed Simcoe Park.
Thanks for a good place from which to visit NOTL!
Backyard and front gate needs some attention. Would prefer a kerig coffee maker available to offer various coffee likes such as decaf and regular coffee.
Was surprised how excessively the floors sloped in one bedroom.
Heating was too noisy to use.
Downtown convenience was the bonus.
Rustic decor.
Great cottage and super location right by Queen Street with many shops and restaurants. Many updates/renovations inside including beautiful bathroom - but owner needs to check quality of renovation work as a vanity door in the bathroom hits the bathroom door moulding, and a cupboard door in the kitchen hits the stove door. Convenient push-button lock on back door leading to dedicated parking space in public lot is very handy, but the lock is finicky and doesn't always lock/unlock on first try. There is an extra per person charge that isn't known/upfront in the online vrbo booking process until AFTER you book and communicate directly with owner - which was annoying. Otherwise very nice place with just the above-mentioned items needing attention.
The cottage was in a great location for walking to most of the sites we wanted to see and for getting to restaurants. Having a dedicated parking space made it very convenient to come and go with our car if necessary. Everything we needed was there and it was a very comfortable stay. The kitchen and bathroom were very nice and the kitchen was fully equipped.
Wonderful Location, quaint historic house rather than luxury
Although the manager answered the phone when called about a mouse. She said a hired man might come the next day. I said today would be our expectation.
No traps or extra plugin repellers for kitchen were brought. Owner responded by email and expected the manager would deal with it.
There were plugin repellers in other rooms.
Suggestions: Add a proper fitting screen door and smaller screen or hardware cloth around the perimeter of the house.
The house was the perfect location, size and came well equiped for our family so I was disappointed in the manager's lack of action.
4 Friends to NotL for a quick weekend - place was clean, comfortable and conveniently in a 5 min walking distance to theater, shops, lakefront, forts, and biking trails. Easy in, easy out! Would recommend to anyone.
This was our first visit to NOTL. I was the travel planner for our getaway. The accommodations were excellent. The cottage was within steps of the main street of NOTL.
The cottage had everything we needed, and then some. We did not need to use the washer and dryer, or the stove, but it was great to know that they were available if we chose to use them. The living room was ever so comfortable, as were the beds.
I can't say enough about how the cottage greatly enhanced and supported our stay in NOTL.
Also, so very close to the Falls, wineries, and beautiful views of Lake Ontario.

The check in process was quick n simple. Location was excellent. The accommodations with slight cost effective improving would be most accommodating . I believe if any of the following suggestions would be considered-they are as follows :
1-denim replacement sofa n love seat covers-washable. The current sofas are dingy and cushions could use added padding.
2-the designated parking space for the cottage was covered in leaves and upon closer inspection realized that although sign posted, it was marked over , was painted as a “do not park-“hence first night we got a parking ticket..
3- each bed could use a comfortable foam topper… other than these minor - low cost improvements will absolutely enhance an even more comfortable relaxed stay- and we plan on returning to this cottage if available.
The house was perfect! We could walk to everything and our Wine tour guide picked us up down the street. The house is very clean and pretty and just as described. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Niagra-on-the-Lake!
We were in NOTL for Shaw Festival performances (and to visit wineries), and this sweet little house is perfectly located close to all Shaw theatres, includes a parking space, and is less than a block’s walk from town. There are indoor and outdoor visiting areas, and washer and dryer are a plus. Note there’s only one washroom, but we managed! We absolutely would stay here again if it’s available.
We enjoyed our stay very much. This quirky little cottage is in a great walk-to location. It had a convenient parking space which was great when we wanted to make a trip over to the falls. Appreciated the obvious recent upgrades to the kitchen and the bathroom. The living room furniture was cozy but showing its age. The hosts were very agreeable and helpful.
My sister, mother, and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. No complaints. We each enjoyed our own bedroom and thought the beds were comfy. Having one bedroom worked just fine for us. We appreciated the renovation. We loved the private, back patio and the parking spot. Loved the location: so close to the Shaw Theater, restaurants, and pubs (our favorite being the Irish Harp).
