Fair out of season stay...
On arrival at the front of the hotel it looked closed as it had no outside lighting, not even the hotel sign was lit, some might have been concerned, even walked away, given the untidy, distressed look to the hotel which is somewhat dire.
The hotel’s location proved to be wonderfully convenient for the town centre, local public transport connections and all the other amenities this seaside town had to offer.
Staying in late autumn and ‘out of season’ in a seaside resort town, guests are always going to have expect to compromise on the facilities that any hotel has to offer and the Beresford is no exception, the restaurant was not open for dinner (and I was not offered breakfast so I speculate not open for breakfast either) and on my visit the bar was also closed; in fact the communal areas were as empty as a ‘ghost town’.
The welcome was friendly and efficient, the lift worked, however most rooms you still have to climb up some stairs to enter.
The corridors leading to the rooms did not give a good impression having dirty stained carpets and walls on every turn.
The single room I stayed in was large for a solo room and soon warmed up when the heating was activated and the windows closed.
Notably, the bed, mattress, linen, duvet and pillows were endearingly comfortable and aided a good nights sleep.
