Central location, poorly maintained
The checkin was easy and the outside appearnce was decent. One couch was covered in stains and had a hole in the cushion. We found mouse droppings and an opened (unsure if used) pregnancy test in the bathroom vanity. Ther

Graduation Trip
We were very satisfied with our stay at the Sonshine House. We stayed here so that we could attend our nephew's graduation. We enjoyed the walk to the restaurants Indulge and Saffron. The history of the area and the convenience of where we had to go was appealing to us. We would stay there again.

Nice little property in cute area
Hilton Village is one of those places you just have to experience and staying here is a great way to do that. For a small property, it was surprisingly roomy. Hope to come back!

Feels like Home!
Very comfortable stay; we needed an overnight accomodation on a return to the northeast from the far southeast- The house and neighborhood feel like home- very safe- very comfortable. You will have everything you need and if you should need a little more- literally around the corner and a block away are restaurants and shops that will provide! Within driving distance are many local gems- depending on your patate. We always 'Waze' and Google about an hour out, order take away, and enjoy in our VRBO. Walks near the water are near, and even a stroll through the surrounding neighborhood is relaxing. Beds are comfortable, the air conditioning system is easy; simply twist to the right and then to the desired setting to the left and two minutes later cool air will fill the room! As described in the listing, but with an added touch of a good 'feel' when you're actually settled in the house. We would stay again if we were in the area, and would refer this house to anyone in the area. There is plenty of parking off street- we were able to park directly in front of the house with spaces available a few spaces 'down'. An overall A+!

Great little house for a visit to Newport News
Lovely little house in the historic Hilton Village. We enjoyed the surrounding neighborhood and were able to take our grandsons down to the local pier and playground. It was a perfect place for our weekend visit. The only drawback is that “historic” is not necessarily a good fit for anyone with a handicap (narrow stairs and a bathtub shower that is sloped on the bottom).

Great house in a lovely neighborhood
As new residents of Virginia, this was our first visit to Newport News. We were there for only a night in transit to drop our kid off at camp. We were very pleasantly surprised by the loveliness of the neighborhood and the home. The home was clean and well-equipped. It had a nice sized yard for the kids to run around in and the neighborhood had a great feel to it with several cute and accessible restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. We definitely plan to come back to spend more time there and hope to have the chance to stay in this home again.

WOW - great find, we will come back!
This house is fabulous and perfect location. My boyfriend and I were there for 2 weeks for work. It is a 3 bedroom....so we didn't need that much space, but we had enough room for me to work, him to do yoga, sit on the front porch and just explore the neighborhood and town of Newport News. Loved it all

Quick stop for the night
Needed a place to stop for the night on the way down to the OBX. Property manager was very helpful. Perfect size house for a family of 5 and location was nice. Would've like to explore the area a bit more, just driving around loved the older homes nearby. Will definitely consider staying here in future trips.

Great neighborhood and home!
The property was beautiful! The neighbors were friendly, the porch was charming, the downtown shops were fun! I would def rebook! We have a 1yo, so the steps were tricky. However, they did provide a baby fence! If there were really any things to change, I would say a better quality shower curtain to avoid sticking to you when showering. This is so minor though in the grand scheme of things.

Excellent Time!!
My husband and I did a somewhat last minute trip to the area with our one year old and I am so grateful we found this house!! It was the perfect size for us and the beds were very comfy. There was even a small box of toys that our little one made a bee line to and thoroughly enjoyed. The communication with the owner was excellent and she answered all of our questions promptly. There was also a brief history of the house which was really interesting. 10/10 definitely recommend!!
