Cottage by the Beach

Unique 'original' Newport Beach house. Take a trip back in time, and stay in a house built and owned by the same family since 1910.

5th house from the beach on 27th St. 5 minute walk to Newport Pier, Grocery Store, Restaurants, Shopping. 5 min drive to Balboa Fun Zone, Arcades, Boat Rentals, Fishing Charters, Harbor Cruises, Whale Watching Tours, Fashion Island Shopping.

The famous surf beach, "Blackies" is right out front. Many famous surfing spots are close by (Huntington Beach, The Wedge).

One of VERY few houses this close to the beach with a backyard.

Back bedroom is furnished with a full bed and a twin. Front bedroom has a full bed. Both bedrooms have closets. Front sleeping porch has a full bed and a sofa that folds out to a full bed. The living room has a sectional sofa and recliner which we steam-clean regularly.

Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm are just 20 minutes away.

Cutest Cottage Ever!
Such a cute cottage - loved the history of it as presented in the decor. It had ample space for 6 of us, was clean, well-stocked with the necessities, and the location was fabulous! We will definitely stay here again. Thank you for making our stay easy, convenient, and so fun!

We had a fantastic time at this sweet cottage. We loved having a cute sandy backyard for when our kids weren't at the beach. Close to the beach, shops, and restaurants.....we had a blast! This place had everything, so well stocked...loved it.

This house was perfect for our little family of 4. The house is perfectly located to the beach and we were able to walk to all our favorite spots. The house had everything we needed and the backyard and garage were a great bonus. Would gladly stay here again!!

If you are looking for an affordable little getaway, look no further. This little cottage is just steps away from the beach and conveniently located to all the great things to do in Newport Beach. Matt, the owner, was very accommodating and friendly.

Close to beach and everything you need
We enjoyed playing freebie and attempting to surf. The home and area was clean and seemed safe. The kids and I appreciated we were not on the main boardwalk, and when you step out of the front door, you can see the beach. I would love to stay there again.

Perfect Location
This was a great property in a perfect location. I parked my car in the garage and never had to drive. We were able to walk to everything or ride the bikes that were part of the rental. I would definitely rent this adorable cottage again.

Much needed visit
W COVID I haven’t seen my children and grandchildren for 10 months. So I secured this ideal location for us. Most live close so only a couple stayed but when all were here the house was great.

Love time at the beach
The location is great. The listing is totally accurate. Look at the pictures. This a cute little cottage that is just steps from the beach. We took walks along the beach to the pier. We walked to local restaurants and had a great time. The bathroom is small like the one I grew up with - no just a sink, tub and toilet and a little bit of storage. The wi-fi worked well.

Just bring you...
This house was absolutely wonderful. They have spared no expense making sure that anything you could need for a nice beach getaway is already there. From towels and beach toys to perfect spaces to lay your head. Everything was wonderful and clean. Can't wait to make this a yearly trip and hopefully even longer next time. Thank you Matt for the wonderful experience. Also loved all the family history in the home. Made it feel even more cozy.

Charming beach getaway
So close to beach the backyard is sand! Lots of kids toys and bikes, beach chairs in garage. Note: only fits 2 smaller cars but during week easy parking on street. Kids immediately started playing with toys and didnt make it into house for a while Beds comfortable, everything clean, no dishwasher so you do that. Pier, shops and restaurants just a short walk down the boardwalk. It was lovely and beautiful weather after morning fog burned off Would definitely do again

Great Beach Getaway
I only rented the house for a couple nights, but it couldn't have been better for my wife, baby, and myself and there was still plenty of room for more people. The home is old, but in a cool way. The owner has done a good job renovating and keeping it up to date. Everything worked good and the backyard they have with the sand area is awesome for later at night. It is the perfect beach house if you want a cool, fun experience in what I'd describe as an old school simple house that has a great beach vibe to it. Only downside was that there just so happened to be construction in the alley and we couldn't use the garage, so parking completely sucked especially since it was Memorial Weekend. Other than that, 5 stars from me for the house!

Wonderful beach property!
This adorable cottage is SO close to the beach. It's literally 20 steps from golden sand. Upon arrival I contacted Matt to see if we could check in a little early. He was very helpful and accommodating. Our family enjoyed this historic property, and loved looking at the old pictures of the house that are on display. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed. We also loved being able to park in the garage, and it's packed with everything you need for the beach. Our only complaint is that the property listing states there is a washer/dyer on site. We were hoping to do some wash after being on vacation for several days. Unfortunately, the washer was out-of-order. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.
