Its blend of casual and sophistication sets the mood for comfort in this cottage on three acres fronting The Great Salt Bay, Maine's first Marine Protected Area. A highlight of Beckoning Bay is its 12x44 foot enclosed waterside porch. You choose whether to relax and watch unspoiled nature or get closer on the water in the provided canoe and kayaks. It's a private setting yet only a mile from the twin towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle with restaurants, shops and theater (live and cinema).

Amazing Bayside Experience
The cottage had all of the amenities of home and was styled beautifully. We loved sitting on the dock or by the firepit watching horseshoe crabs, eagles, kingfishers and sea birds. David was a wonderful host.

Wonderful Respite in Maine
Our stay in Newcastle/Damariscotta was great. The property was pleasant, quiet and beautiful. The property manger, Dave, was helpful, pleasant and always available. Mid-coast Maine is beautiful and is a regular vacation spot in Maine. Nothing here to complain about. Would highly recommend theproperty and the area.

We had a wonderful stay. The porch had amazing views and was comfortable even in the winter. The kitchen was large and incredibly well equipped. The cottage was beautifully decorated and had lots of natural light.

Great Cottage in Newcastle, Maine
We loved the sunroom and spent most of our time there when we were not out exploring mid-coast Maine. The location is excellent, with good parking. The cottage is spacious, and the kitchen is well equipped. Bathrooms had plenty of towels and supplies. I highly recommend the cottage for anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable spot to relax with the Damariscotta River as part of your back yard.

The house, location, and setting were all great. The house is not necessarily handicapped friendky but most problems can be avoided with planning. I recommend the house and manager with enthusiasm.

Summer getaway
Loved our stay in Newcastle. The house was well equipped, waterfront and included the use of 3 kayaks. Comfy beds and good sized bathrooms. The air conditioning however, is only a small window unit in the kitchen. With 90 degree heat last week the house was definitely hot.The location is also not walking distance to downtown Damariscotta.David, the property manager is a wonderful host!!!

Perfect place to stay in Maine
This was a perfect place to stay in Maine for a cozy weekend! The view is so tranquil and beautiful and the cozy sunroom at the back of the house makes you want to relax all day. The house was spotless and had all the amenities I needed. I have rented many many homes and David is by far the best host I’ve had!

Perfect getaway
The cottage is as charming as the listing and photos show - perhaps even more so in real life. We loved our time there and enjoyed kayaking in the bay, spending time on the dock and sitting in the porch/sunroom taking in the views.

We had a great experience at Beckoning Bay Cottage. I wish that the porch also had air conditioning (it got really hot while we were there), but otherwise a great stay, and David was wonderful!

Perfect Location!
Our 3 weeks here were relaxing and wonderful. We hiked, kayaked, and enjoyed the deck mornings and evenings. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens were fabulous! We love vacationing in Maine and found Beckoning Bay and this area to be particularly enjoyable, and David is a wonderful host!

A Charming Cottage on the River
Beckoning Bay is a lovely cottage located right on the Damariscotta River. The location is fantastic and is close to many restaurants, shops, and attractions. It is also the perfect location for many day trips. We loved sitting by the river and watching the Bald Eagles and other wild life. Just a very peaceful, serene location.

Terrific Waterfront Cottage
We had a terrific stay at Beckoning Bay Cottage…the porch is wonderful space-length of whole house! The kitchen is large and well stocked with necessities and the welcome basket David provides was much appreciated! We would definitely recommend staying here. Excellent location for area day trips. Highly recommend Pemquaid Lighthouse!

Great Vacation
Beckoning Bay Cottage is a warm cozy comfortable cottage with great views David the host was great with a nice welcoming basket . Everything in town was close by and very quaint. We have rented many times from HomeAway and this was our top choice.Everything was great we didn't want to leave.

Beautiful home! We especially loved the front porch. Great location, close to town. We met the host at check in who showed us the home. He was very nice and gave us suggestions for restaurants. I highly recommend this rental!
