Not recommend for biz trip stay
it was very noisy in the nights from the next rooms. Even I called the reception, the next room neighbors were still super loud. The room isolation was really bad. I was unable to sleep. The bathtub was always dirty during my stay. The cleaner never really did the clearing. The entire room facility looks old, not really reaches 4 star hotel. It is a very bad experience of staying.

Nice stay
The room is spacious and comfortable. The shenkeng old street which is a few bus stops away is exciting and lots of nice food there. Breakfast around the hotel is nice. The free shuttle service provides a convenient way to travel out of the hotel.

Location of hotel medicore.
Chickens foot in the soup at restaurant, I have heard of stock with bones but....ugh. Buffet in dining room excellent selection, minus fruit and other western selection. No control on thermostat. Caught a cold. Had to shut the damn thing off. Nice city hotel did provide a shuttle.

Great Hotel for a family
For us this Hotel worked really well. We had an Executive Suite on the 16th level which was set up with two seperate bedrooms. One room had a King Size double bed and the other room had 2 single beds. The Hotel was situated about a 20 minute drive to Taipei 101 which for tourists like us, is the centre of the city. A complimentary shuttle runs from the Hotel every hour so the distance from the city was really not an issue at all. If we were just a couple we may've elected to stay in the city but with two teenage kids it was spot on. The Staff and were fantastic and the service was great. Nothing was ever a problem and they were all extremely friendly and polite. If I had to be critical of anything, I would say that the decor was a little dated but too me, that matters little. I want clean, comfortable and no dramas and that is what we got.

This is an average 3.5 to 4 star hotel. The hotel accommodation is reasonable. However unless you particularly need this area it is a long way from downtown Taipei and nothing much in the general area. Not much in the way of western style food or drinks.

It was very impressive how they accepted their wrongdoings and compensated well for it. The hotel is not too far from the city, it was just unfortunate we did not see the fireworks from where we were.

Good alternative to staying in the city
The location of the hotel is not convenient to rely on public transport but the money you would have saved from room rate compared with city centre hotel should be sufficient for hiring of a private car with driver to take you around.

Holiday Inn East Taipei
Stayed for 5 nights for Semicon Taiwan convention. Staff was great, everyone was friendly, especially the shuttle drivers. Front office staff and drivers spoke good English. Breakfast buffet at the lobby was so-so. Good thing I had access to the executive lounge where the breakfast and atmosphere was great! Very clean room, but view was meh. No walking destination as it is in the old Shenkeng neighborhood. Only 10 minutes by taxi to heart of downtown / Taipei 101.

Good stay on the outskirts of Taipei
If you're not really into city-centers but looking for a comfortable stay, then Holiday Inn East Taipei is a good choice. It's really in the suburbs of Taipei surrounded by hills in the bustling small town of Shenkeng. Only 10 mins drive to downtown, really, so you're not far from anything at all. Good and friendly staff, though food choices may be a bit lacking if you're looking for a hearty meal.

Holiday Inn East Taipei is hard to find
Holiday Inn East Taipei is hard to find. However, the check-in and check-out process was quick. The room is large and spacious. The beds are very comfortable. Beside the hotel is a 7-11 Convenience store. Nothing to do around the area of the hotel. There is an hourly shuttle that will take you to the Taipei City Hall which is near the Taipei 101. Over-all, I am very satisfied with Holiday Inn East Taipei and I will return to this hotel.

Good value, great staff
This was a business trip and the location was determined by that factor. This hotel had a very friendly staff that was extremely helpful and efficient. My one complaint was the buffet; during our visit, there was a touring group staying at the hotel and the crowds over taxed the facility, both in seating and food availability. The good news is the second day, things were much better. I would recommend. The price was very reasonable too.

Worst Holliday Inn I've ever been
I 've stayed in many times in hotels of the Holliday Inn chain in different countries. I like their hotels, there is nothing special about them, but you get what you pay. That was my first negative experience staying in a Holliday Inn. The location is awful, way too far from the everything and neighborhood doesn't look safe. The hotel is really bad, the hygiene is questionable, the staff barely speaks English, and you can hear all the noises from your neighbors and from the street. One day, I called to order breakfast, as the kitchen wasn't answering, I tried the front desk. He says, "they are not answering because it's breakfast time, they are busy". Really? Five minutes later a guy calls back, but he cannot understand English. We decide go to the buffet. When I take a plate, it's completely dirty of salad dressing. We booked their shuttle one day, and they called 20min before the time schedule saying that they were about to leave, so we should hurry up. I would never refer this hotel to anyone.

Although the location is not in the city center, but there are a no. of interesting little eateries nearby, the tofu street is especially fascinating. The hotel concierge staff is very helpful. Hotel suite is very nice providing privacy even for a couple. It is better than we have expected and the room charges are reasonable. However, it would be nice if they have bigger shuttle buses to take guests to town, a couple of times we tried to book the shuttle bus, it was full because it can only take 7 passengers.
