I was traveling for my birthday it was very difficult to add a guest to my room initially but that worked out. The front desk staff was nice but when we requested our room to be cleaned with the 24 hour policy they didn’t make or change the beds. We stay 4 nights and requested once and when we asked to get the sheets changed the cleaning department the were reluctant. The front desk staff was reassuring. The carpet also had visible stains. I wouldn’t allow mg dog to sleep on the pull out bed so I’m glad we upgraded to a double. Also the hotel was a little dangerous it a large homeless population that is unfortunate. For the price I definitely could have stayed somewhere else.

The check-in process was a hot mess. We waited 30 minutes to check in, unlike some of the "unlucky" ones before us who had been there for hours. This was the last game of the Saints' season, so surely they had practice with this before, not to mention tourism is the backbone of the New Orleans economy. The rooms were great, especially loved the kitchenette although we ate out most of the time. However, there was a horrible smell in the hallways that made the trips to and from the rooms an ordeal. Get rid of the smell and improve the check-in process and you get 5 stars. Make that 4 and three quarters. When we went to check-out, it seems we had already been checked out. Guess that's why the maid just barged into the room at 9:30 without even knocking.

The staff was awesome. Location was great, but didn't like seeing all of the homeless camping out across the street. Breakfast was good, but very crowded which to be expected. I would definitely stay again, but probably the property on Bourbon St.

The hotel was dirty. Not at all like the pictures shown. Staff was not helpful at all. The entire hotel smelled terrible. Room and carpet was dirty. No door on the shower. Damaged drywall. Nothing we enjoyed about this hotel.

We were very pleased with the size of our room. Unfortunately, it smelled like fried fish the entire time we stayed. Wazdi at front desk was very friendly, but another staff member would not give my teenaged daughter a key to room when she got locked out. They let my kids charge stuff to the room all the time, though. I called to ask manager but never received a call back. The hotel is pretty well maintained but area around it pretty sketchy. Parking is only in garage next door and pretty expensive. Valet seemed to be overwhelmed. You can park your car yourself in garage and I think it is slightly cheaper than valet. Garage itself is disgusting. Clearly, the homeless population uses it as a toilet. Breakfast ladies work very hard but always long lines. They did have some variety over the several days we stayed. Wish breakfast was past 9 on weekdays. Staff was pretty responsive when we had issues/needed things.

This hotel was wonderful for our New Orleans vacation. We literally had a 1 bedroom apartment. It was very spacious, with a full-service kitchen, dining area, living room, separate bedroom and en suite bathroom. There was a complementary breakfast with the usual fare plus a pancake maker. The staff was very friendly. They were very accommodating whenever we needed towels and other accessories. We opted for no housekeeping for our 4 night stay. I felt safe in the hotel, as you needed your room key to access the lobby and elevator. I would definitely recommend the Sonesta ES Downtown. It is a close walk to all tourist activities, plus many buses run by the hotel.
