There is so much to enjoy in the neighborhood. The home is two short blocks (900 feet) from Magazine Street. Start off the day there with coffee and pastries at PJ's Coffee or District Donuts. After breakfast, the shops on Magazine open, and you can choose whether you want to shop for clothes at Joseph Boutique, Azby's. or Pied Nu. You may decide to get a new pair of jeans at Jean Therapy or shop for luxury gifts and home goods at Hazelnut, a boutique owned by Bryan Batt of Mad Men fame. Sit outside for lunch at Whole Foods, which is housed in Arabella Station, a National Register of Historic Places building that once served as a carbarn for storage and parking of streetcars.

After lunch, you can get a blowout at Paris Parker Salon or a massage and facial at Earthsavers while you stock up on skincare. Don't forget Bluemercury for luxury makeup (they also handle the Jack Black men's line). If you are in a more literary state of mind, browse Octavia Books, one of New Orleans' premier independent bookstores.

Enjoy a fantastic dinner at one of the restaurants in close walking distance. Saba, featuring Middle Eastern cuisine, is one of the restaurants owned by Alon Shaya, a James Beard Award-winning chef. Dine on elegant Italian fare at Avo or try La Crèpe Nanou, a romantic neighborhood French bistro and Crèperie.

After dinner, you can end the night at St. Joe's Bar where you can easily walk home. Monkey Hill Bar is also within walking distance, or you may decide to venture beyond the neighborhood to Maple Street, Tipitina's, or Frenchmen for live music and dancing. Recuperate the next day with a superfood smoothie from Main Squeeze.

A short 3 block walk (2 minutes maximum) takes you to the Mardi Gras Parade Route. Audubon Zoo & Park and Tulane University are both 1 mile away. St. Charles Avenue and the streetcar line are seven blocks from the suite. Wonderful little place
This was the perfect place to lay our head while my partner and I traveled to New Orleans for a wedding. Great neighborhood. As someone who grew up there, staying in the heart of Uptown New Orleans is always beautiful. The host was communicative and helpful. Really well suited for a solo traveler or couple. Thank you for the lovely stay!

We would come back! A super experience!
This property is adorable. We loved it all. Kitchen is well equipped and comfortably-sized with a table and three chairs, and every other amenity needed. Coffee pods are provided for the Keurig as well as ample bottles of water, salt and pepper, plates, mugs. Bedroom very comfy; TV was well-loaded with apps; desk handy, and plenty of closet space. Beautiful secluded brick patio with very comfy seating and a fire pit, good lighting. Also, bonus for us as I don't like to take dirty clothes home - there is a washer and dryer. This place is well located - walkable to Whole Foods, a great wine shop, boutiques, hairdressers, nail place...we loved it. The host is also responsive and kind.

Perfectly cozy for an individual or couple
This was a great location and accommodation for our trip to New Orleans. Wifi was sufficient for us to do some work while we were there, amenities were thoughtful and high-quality. The surrounding neighborhood is safe, charming and convenient for eating and shopping very locally, as well as for getting around town. The only thing that we did not love is that the exercise machine in the bedroom is a bit awkward to move around, and if you wear glasses, be aware that only one side of the bed has a surface for placing them overnight. However, we knew about these things at time of booking, and were able to work around them. All in all, we highly recommend staying here, and look forward to returning.

Wonderful Respite
Just spent eights days of R&R at this finest-kind sweet suite, most comfortably eclectic. The description provided is quite accurate, and the neighborhood recommendations spot-on. Weather was both hot and cold during my stay; AC & heating worked great as needed. Kitchen fine for cooking when not eating out (I made jambalaya, broiled steaks, & a pork rib roast). I decided not to rent a car, and instead put the money toward food & wine {Correction: WINE & food...} Surrounding area incredibly walkable. Used public streetcar and bus routes to get all around city easily & inexpensively. Rather than cab it, I even used the 202 RTA bus to quickly get to/from MSY to downtown for $1.50. Thanks again to Aladdin & Anne for allowing a wayward New Englander to abandon his wife & cat for a restorative stay.

Private and Convenient Uptown Stay
Hosts were very accommodating, and the upstairs space is bright with shielded (private) windows and great separation between the comfortable bedroom and well supplied kitchen. Very close to restaurants and shopping on Magazine. It was too cold for the patio this visit but the gas and string lighting upon the brickwork set a great mood to relax. Hope to return soon.

Sweetest uptown guest house
So sweet - every Vrbo photo accurate The host was very communicative and available for any needs I am from uptown New Orleans originally so knew what to expect of an old uptown house - this was better than most old homes tho it’s a bit quirky space ( which was perfect for me ) This was wonderful with lots of beautiful touches from the claw foot tub and it’s pretty faucet to all the very nice soaps and shampoos - look at that kitchen ! Felt very spoiled Note : Entrance is in the very back of home -( not pictured ) there are stairs to get up to the apartment .. not too many -they are very sturdy if a bit narrow so only go if a few stairs wont bother you - I’m over 60 and they were fine - would love to return

I enjoyed my stay in this charming space. Everything was perfect. The owner was very quick to respond to questions I had. The space was well stocked with essentials in the kitchen and bathroom. The neighborhood was safe and conveniently located near Whole Foods and other shops. When I return, I will stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

Great location & wonderful stay !
We had a great stay!!! The location was perfect, close to Tulane and Magazine St. It’s really easy (10-15 min drive) to get to downtown and the French Quarter. The place was such a cute space. We loved having the separate kitchen; the bedroom was really comfortable, and the bathroom had all we needed (we noticed one previous guest had a problem with the bathroom door, but it closed just fine for us). Aladdin and Anne were great hosts, great communication and incredibly friendly! We highly recommend Upstairs in Uptown to other guests and hope we get the chance to stay there again.

Location was perfect
The area was perfect. Places like Whole Foods, Walgreens and several eateries were within a 3 block walking distance. The living space itself was charming. There is a separate entrance through a gate to get to the back of the house. The outdoor area was cute and we spent quite a bit of time outside after touring the city. The floor needs to be touched up because when walking barefoot (typically after a shower) the glue from the floor stickes to your feet. The exercise machine in the bedroom really limited space and maneuverability on one side of the bed. I would also like to mention that there is no lock or device to keep the door to the bathroom closed. My husband and I are close, but not that close. We simply made a makeshift "latch" with a stick pin and a hair tie to keep the door closed for more privacy. Overall, an amazing vacation with lots of great food.
