Great Location
Cute and comfortable cottage with a nice courtyard to relax in. Was very close to public transportation. Street car and magazine street lines. Friendly and safe neighborhood right next to the park. We really enjoyed our time there.

Beautiful cottage apartment in the garden district
peaceful, clean, modern, well appointed with gracious hosts (although I did not meet them in person), back yard, and wonderful location. Walking distance to the convention center, St Charles Streetcar, and Magazine St. A gem!

Clean and comfortable. Great location!
We loved staying at Matilde's guest house. We stayed for 5 nights in May. The accomodations were very comfortable and private. Matilde and Gustavo were wonderful hosts. We did mot see much of them but definitely felt we could contact them with any questions. We would definitely stay again.

A wonderful place to stay
We loved Matilde's wonderful cottage. It is in the beautiful lower garden district, surrounded by some stunning houses. It is a 20 minute walk to the French Quarter but if we were not up to it we used the hop on, hop off bus during the day and the trolley car at night - both are very close. The cottage is so much bigger than a hotel room and has everything you need if you wish to eat in. We enjoyed the local restaurants. Matilde was a joy to deal with and I'd recommend this cottage ahead of a hotel room any day.

Tranquil get away
I loved the cottage! It was very comfortable, relaxing and clean. Matilde was excellent to work with too. She quickly responded to any questions we had and I loved the adorable cats in the courtyard! :) I would stay here again if I was back in New Orleans. Oh...and the location is awesome! Very close to all the shops and restaurants on Magazine Street.

Perfect little sactuary
We came for 4 nights in early January to enjoy some post-Christmas-with-family time to ourselves & really hit the jackpot here! The space was perfect for my husband & me. We parked the car when we got there & didn't move it until we left 4 days later. Matilde & Gustavo's place is perfectly located for easy walking to the areas most popular attractions. We hit up great restaurants & museums & had a fabulous & restful vacation. We will go back for sure!!

Charming
The cottage was cozy and charming, the hosts lovely. We were not able to use the outdoor space due to the weather, but it is very nicely done with tables, chairs and chimaera fire feature. A wonderful park across the street and a bus stop right at the corner for a quick ride to the Quarter. Located 1 block from great shops and restaurants on Magazine Street. The cottage was private, well equipped, tastefully decorated, nicely maintained and blessedly sunny.

Comfortable studio apartment just a block off Magazine Street
Went to NOLA for my husband's birthday, looking for a relaxing weekend. Just steps from Magazine Street where you can find a wide variety of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. St Charles Street trolley is a few blocks away, and an Uber to the French Quarter was just under $7. Quiet, safe neighborhood. The studio apartment is in the back yard, and is surrounded with lush greenery and patio seating, perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails. Owners were very friendly and welcoming, but not obtrusive. Found parking close but most spaces were full during our stay. Will definitely try to stay here on our next trip.

Excellent location
The apartment is located in a central residential neighbourhood, a short distance from all other districts in the city. The studio itself, although small, is very functional and opens on a pretty coutyard, allowing guests to spend leasure time outdoors. Parking is quite easy on the street. The only inconvenience we experienced during our one-week stay was ongoing noise during the day, due to 1) building crews renovating a big building just behind the studio, and 2) the dog next door barking a lot. Otherwise, it was very pleasant.

Loved it
So glad we found this rental at the last minute. The location was perfect, the one room cottage is clean and efficiently laid out. Décor has a modern feel but still speaks to the New Orleans aesthetic. As an artist I appreciated being surrounded by the artwork of the owners. We were always able to get a parking space right in front of the house. Matilde was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed meeting her visiting brother and discovering we had actually met his wife(also and artist) several years ago in our hometown. Funny! Thank You for a great introduction to New Orleans.

Inger J., Where do you live?

Quiet, private, confortable and a lot of fun!
This is a lovely, clean, quiet, and very comfortable studio located behind a house. There is a private patio area to lounge around and enjoy. Located in what is called the "lower garden district" this is a beautiful area of New Orleans. We appreciated the close proximity to the French Quarter. For example, If we ate too much food the night before (which occurred almost every night!) we would then take a lovely stroll all the way to the FQ the next morning-ready for a new adventure in New Orleans. We arrived during French Quarter Fest and it was quite a respite to be able to leave the quarter and make our way back via the St. Charles streetcar, or the bus. Matilde, the manager, was extremely helpful in giving us food/restaurant suggestions. All of her recommendations were spot on, by the way! I appreciated how easily accessible she was with any questions that came up. I'd say, keep in mind this is a studio and perfect for just two people. April in New Orleans and even between festivals is a perfect time to visit. We are arranging this again for next year!

Thanks from snowy Ottawa
My husband and I recently spent two weeks in the New Orleans area. Matilde’s studio served as a perfect launching point for our explorations. It’s location was perfect! The bus stop was right at the corner and the streetcar was two blocks away on St. Charles Street. Magazine Street with all it’s shops and restaurants was just a block away. With so many bars and restaurants within walking distance, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the studio was on a very quiet residential street. The studio itself was just as depicted in photos; clean, modern and artfully decorated. It was large for a studio; plenty of room for 2 people. As we stayed for two weeks, we did do some of our own cooking and found the kitchen to be equipped with pots, pans, cookware, dinnerware, glassware and some spices. All the basics were covered. The outdoor patio was large, quiet and private; tucked behind the main house. The weather was a little cool when we were there (beginning of February) so we didn’t make too much use of it, but I can imagine lazing back in one of those hammocks or under one of the umbrellas after a long day walking about the French Quarter. Probably one of the best things about this property are the hostess and host, Matilde and Gustavo. They both went out of their way to make our first visit to New Orleans memorable. Our flight was delayed until late in the evening due to inclement weather and when I communicated this to Matilde she made sure that we had coffee, milk, bread, fruit, King cake and many other essentials for the next morning. Our luggage was delayed and they even offered to wait for it’s arrival so that we wouldn't miss out on one day of the NOLA experience. Matilde checked in with us every other day to see how things were going and she readily answered our texts when we had questions. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We would definitely return here on our next trip to New Orleans.

Wonderful place to stay
CoZy and clean studio with lots of thoughtful touches. It is in a perfect location for New Orleans stay. We absolutely loved the area and ease of getting around, I really don’t think you can find a better area to stay. Everything is very well kept inside and out. We had little hang up for arrival not having the code or being able to get ahold of the owner , I think just happen to be an oversight and we understand things happen every now again. It all worked out great still. She followed up and made sure everything was great and was very courteous. We would most definitely stay here again.

Cozy studio in a great location!
Great retreat for us during a fun-packed wedding weekend in the Garden District. Well-stocked and comfortable. Great bed/sheets! Highlight is the large enclosed patio space. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet our host, Matilde, but she was very welcoming and helpful via text!

Gorgeous, hidden gem, perfection 👌🏻
There could not be a more perfect location in all of NOLA than this little space 😍 The owners are quite possibly the sweetest, most-generous & kind people we’ve ever met. The guest house was clean, convenient & decorated with fabulous art...we found ourselves wanting to chill in our room & the courtyard as much as possible. One block away from the cutest eclectic shops, coffee shops & restaurants...this is truly a hidden gem in the city! Matilde & her husband were just amazing & even leant me their last gate key when I left mine at a friend’s house...just such sweet people ❤️Thank you both so much !

Wonderful experience, gracious hosts, perfect location.
This accommodation provided the perfect place in which to make forays into whichever direction we desired into New Orleans. Using public transit kept things simple for us and this property afforded us the ideal location. Our abode was clean, inspiring, and fully adequate for our four days. Our gracious hosts completed the “picture-perfect” experience.

Great Place to Stay!
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was well appointed with coffee (with all the fixings), laundry detergent, folding lawn chairs and even bus schedules. We rarely moved our car from the free on-street parking, since the bus was conveniently located right outside our door. We would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous Location
Experiencing the historic Garden District was a revelation. Many trips before to New Orleans were in other parts of the city. We walked so much more because of the proximity of cafes, bistros, coffee shops and boutiques. A lovely park is steps away. The beautiful lush greenery of mature big trees makes it so lovely. The secluded, well appointed garden also was a big draw. The room itself is roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed the sophisticated art too. We were there during Jazz Fest and the Lyft drivers were invariably only 2 minutes away !

Matilde and Gustavo were wonderful hosts...and so were their cats. The courtyard is great for lounging and it’s quieter than being in The Quarter...yet, just a short Uber or trolly rides away

Beautiful place to stay.
We booked a trip to NOLA and selected an apartment to stay in that is owned by the same people as this one. When our flight dates changed and I asked if we could extend our visit Matilde said it was already rented but she offered this cottage for our first two nights. She was so very sweet and very accommodating to us, which we really appreciated. The cottage is behind Matilde and Gustavo's home. It's quiet, beautifully decorated, and has every amenity that we could think of. Matilde and Gustavo were so welcoming when we arrived. They gave us numerous suggestions on where to eat, places to see, etc. This location is awesome, with so many things to do within walking distance. The true charm of NOLA is here. We enjoyed strolling down the streets and looking at all of the architecture. After our second night Gustavo moved our luggage to the apartment for us, which was so thoughtful. We didn't have a car and didn't know what to do with our luggage during the day. We didn't need to worry about that! Matilde and Gustavo are gracious hosts and we look forward to coming back to stay here again!
