This historic cottage known as the Alston-Charlotte dates back to the mid 1700's and it is one of ten oldest existing homes in Historic Downtown New Bern. This rare cottage style home is brimming with character and charm. The whimsical backyard is perfect for relaxing complete with stone walls to offer privacy and off street parking. You will be in the heart of thriving Historic Downtown New Bern, a very short walk to shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and more! River tours, museums and historic walking tours await in New Bern or take a short 35 minute drive and see the Emerald Isle.

A charming little house, one of the oldest in New Bern. The location sits in the Beer-muda triangle (super close to three local breweries) with easy access to downtown. Great communications with the owner.

Race weekend
The owners thought of every little detail at this house. We were very comfortable and the furnishings were beautiful. The kitchen was well equipped. The dishwasher is not full size so if you plan to cook a lot bring paper plates. We enjoyed our stay and would rent again!

My mother and I enjoyed our stay. My daughter in law and granddaughter live nearby and it was a perfect place to stay. We walked downtown for shopping and meals. Very convenient to many places in New Bern. The house was decorated so cute and quaint. Very comfortable, clean house! Loved it!

We have stayed at several VROBs and this is definitely among our favorites. Everything about the house and the yard was perfect! The host had thought of everything that provide convenience, entertainment, relaxation and comfort. The only complaint was location as it was a little further walk to the shops and restaurants than we were expecting. However, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Couples Getaway!
We absolutely LOVED the Alston Charlotte house!! Such a cute place and a short walk to so much dining and night life! We all said we would stay again in a minute! The house and set up was super easy, check in and out was a breeze and everything was so ready and available…down to coffee and basics to do a quick load of laundry! We enjoyed every minute of our stay even through a tropical storm! Y’all, stay at the Alston Charlotte!! You will not regret it!

A beautiful historical cottage within walking distance of the town centre.
We stayed for a weekend to check out New Bern and all the historic homes and buildings. This home has been beautifully decorated to a very high standard . Every little detail has been thought out to make your stay more comfortable. We loved having our morning coffee in the pretty back garden whilst our two dogs enjoyed pottering about . The house was immaculate and a real joy to call our home for the weekend . We will definitely be back .

Little piece of heaven
The house exceeded our expectations. The house was beautifully decorated, very clean and a neat part of history. The location is great! Easy walk to several restaurants and breweries. The back yard was great for our dogs. We felt as if the world around us melted away and we were in a lil piece of heaven. Highly recommend this house. We will be back!!

The overall perfection of this place was beyond expectations. Host had anything and everything that could ever be needed or wanted. Setup was amazing. If we were gonna live in a city, the house would be what we would want. Very clean, well stocked and perfect. Need a pack n play, they have it, bringing pets, they have everything needed for them as well. Teenagers we had even loved it and you know teenagers are hard to please. Short walk to downtown, nice neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Thank you

Charming & Convenient Downtown Getaway
This beautiful cottage looks even better in person. Private setting. Adorable decor & finishes. Pristine clean. The hosts provided helpful details up front and responded quickly to questions. We loved being so close to Tryon Palace and downtown New Bern. I didn't notice from the photos that the fenced yard area is not fully enclosed, but it was still a great space for our 2 pups. Would love to come back and enjoy the outdoor space more & go biking in the summer. Exceptionally happy with our stay and look forward to visiting again. Thank you for being great hosts. 5+ stars.

The hosts thought of everything!
We have stayed in VRBOs for years, and we have never seen such care given to every detail in a home! From the Keurig machine and bottled smart water in the master suite to the meticulously-prepared binder of salient information in the living room, the home was deliberately prepared to be welcoming and comfortable. There were plenty of pillows, towels, and kitchen supplies (which I appreciate so much as someone who has to cook nearly every meal due to food intolerances). The phonograph and records were a nice touch which we all enjoyed! The house itself is charming and beautifully decorated and is situated in the perfect location. The backyard was cozy and inviting. The hosts even supplied white noise machines to add to their guests' comfort. I cannot say enough about this adorable cottage, which is also much more affordable than nearly every VRBO we have every stayed in! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Clough Christmas vacation
Went down to New Bern from Pgh to spend Christmas holiday. We have been thinking of moving to New Bern for a while and after this visit I hope to be able to do that really soon. Beautiful friendly town and very accessible to do anything. The house was so charming and comfortable- and well stocked with everything you need for your stay. Very short ( 2 min walk) into town so we walked everywhere- our car never left the driveway. I will definitely come back,- the area behind us was a bit noisy though- but I brought my noise machine so it masked a lot of the noise. Beautiful house and enjoyed the backyard and deck. Thank you.
