This stay is perfect for families, couples, friends, or singles with plenty of ways to relax when you are done exploring! Stay in our guest suite on our peaceful park-like acres surrounded by nature. Walk through Pioneer Park with a playground and pool, and down the Tribute Trail to Nevada City. Eat a gourmet pizza at Three Forks Bakery and Brewing Company and stop by Treats for an artisan ice cream on the way home. Take a 10-minute drive to the wild and scenic Yuba River and swim in the deep emerald waters, sip your morning coffee in the flower garden or snuggle under our provided blankets and watch the snow fall. We only receive a few inches a year, but if you want more, it's right up the road!
The best part of staying at The Wellspring is that you are in the peaceful woods, but the restaurants and picturesque downtown is a 1/2 mile walk or quick drive. Come and enjoy the best of both.
he space
The property is in a forest consisting of pine, oak and Cedar trees. Our guest suite is 800 square feet with two bedrooms, a large living/dining area, a kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub/shower.
The Rooms
One bedroom has a queen bed with a dresser and closet. The second bedroom is designed for kids with 2 built-in bunks, a bookshelf with literature for all ages, toy box, games and a large bean bag chair. Both rooms have blackout curtains on the main window (the smaller round window in each room does not have a blackout curtain).
The main room has a living area and a dining area.
The kitchen has a built-in dishwasher, plug-in dual induction burner, microwave/convection combo and mini refrigerator. (I do most of my cooking on a similar induction burner. It actually boils water faster than my gas stove.) The kitchen is stocked with all the necessary equipment for basic cooking including a full set of spices. There are two empty drawers for food storage.
Technology
The living room contains a 55 inch smart TV with a soundbar. It is ready for you to login to your favorite streaming services.
Wifi is excellent (15ms ping, 200 Mb/s down, 12 Mb/s up) and cell strength varies between good and excellent.
The house has central heat and air run by a smart thermostat with a control panel in the guest suite kitchen.
Health and Safety
Health and well-being is important to us. Some of they ways this shows:
- Natural cleaning products that are scent free.
- BlueAir air filter
- No non-stick cookware (Pots and pans are enamel, stainless steel and cast-iron)
For younger children, we have many safety options. You can request any or all of these and we will set them up before you arrive.
- Install a safety rail on right bunk
- Move the left bunk mattress to the floor under the right bunk
- Install safety gate at the top of the stairs
- Enable drawer locks on all kitchen drawers
Guest access
Guests park in the garage. Access to the suite is through the entry door in the garage and up a set of stairs. The guest only area starts at the entry door and includes the stairs and rooms described above.
The outdoor and sporting goods on the shelves near the suite entry door are available for guest use. The tools and equipment on the far side of the garage are for host use only.
In the kitchen there is a shared wall and locked door leading to the main house. We won't open this door without your permission.
The outdoor area in the front of the house is available for guest use. This includes the garden with two Adirondack chairs. In summer months look for a hammock in the Madrone tree grove.
Other things to note
We (Todd and Jenny) live on-site along with Felix, our 11-year-old yellow lab. If we are out in the yard or garden when you arrive, Felix might bark out of excitement (he likes visitors and is very friendly). He stays in the house most of the time.
Pioneer park is a 5 minute walk.
Nevada City is a 15 minute walk (1/2 mile).
Donner summit ski resorts are 1 hour away.
