A week at Ama Villa Negombo
We were met at the airport by the property caretaker Mr Welgama, who was extremely helpful and kind. The villa was overall a nice property but poorly equipped and maintained. On our arrival, we found the rear garden of the property was strewn with rubbish, old bottles and the remains of a bonfire. On examination, neither cooker in the kitchen was operational, there was no electric kettle or means of boiling water, and the cupboards were mainly full of rubbish and had no handles on the doors. There were no dishcloths or towels, and no rubbish bin. Subsequently, partway through the week, the gas cooker was made serviceable and bins provided, and the garden was tidied up. As regards the bedrooms, there was no provision anywhere for hanging clothes. The toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom was broken and the windows were covered by tatty broken blinds. Many of the lights in the property had defunct lightbulbs and one of the power MCB units in the consumer unit constantly tripped out. In summary, the property lacked maintenance, however, we did enjoy our stay nevertheless.
